CRYSTAL THRONE – Chantry Of Sacrifice (2026) *HQ*
Formed in 2019 in Metz, France, and drawing inspiration from acts such as Queensrÿche, Crimson Glory, Judas Priest, and Symphony X, CRYSTAL THRONE combine classic heavy metal foundations with progressive structures and a strong cinematic identity. Known for their futuristic visual universe, neon aesthetics, smoke effects, and laser-driven live performances, the band continues to carve out their own space within modern progressive heavy metal.
Their new album “Chantry Of Sacrifice” will be released on October 2, self-released by the band. The record fits in the progressive metal category, but it still finds that strong vein of US Metal with melody as balance. The riffing is intricate and inventive – guitarist Max Waynn really stretches and shows off his chops here.
Singer Terry DeFire widely spreads his clear vocal instrument that’s not too far removed from the classic Ray Alder / Micheal Grant style & color. The vocal melodies and arrangements are complex and easily woven into the songs.
“Chantry Of Sacrifice” is a concept album. Set in the distant future of 5150, the album follows Hÿldr, a war veteran and scientific project leader who awakens to an unimaginable reality: Earth has mysteriously vanished, leaving her as the last human in the universe. Hÿldr is then entrusted with one final mission – to travel back in time, uncover the cause of Earth’s disappearance, and alter the course of history before it is too late.
So this is enjoyable Prog metal with a lot of ideas and energy, with a cool concept. It’s remarkable that the mastering of “Chantry Of Sacrifice” is old-school, not over-compressed / brickwalled. The album flows great to the ears…
