LASTWORLD – Escape the Eclipse (2022)

LASTWORLD returns with their new studio release ”Escape The Eclipse”, their 4th album (third for Perris Records) in under 4 years from the dynamic duo of songwriter Jim Shepard (all instruments) and David Cagle (all vocals). The new album is plenty of the Melodic Rock / AOR you like from them plus a few surprises, once again mastered by former King Kobra JK Northrup.
Shepard is the orchestrator creating some damn fine arrangements, a complete musician who really knows his way around his all the instruments too, his fretwork is excellent, the use keyboards to add splashes of color. His bass guitar skills are rock solid, and if the drums are programmed, then he’s made them sound very real – if not, then he’s a damned fine drummer to boot!
Then anything Cagle puts his name to is always good – listen to his work with Taxi, Silent Tiger or JK Northrup if you need proof…

LASTWORLD – Fractured Mirror (2021)

Released by Perris Records, ”Fractured Mirror” is the third effort from Chicago-based classic melodic rockers LASTWORLD, the band formed by songwriter & multi-instrumentalist Jim Shepard (all instruments) and versatile vocalist David Cagle who has worked with JK Northrup among others.
While opener “Save Yourself“ is a quite heavy-rocker driven by sharp riffs, the rest of the material veers from classic melodic rock with a modern sound and AOR splashes here and there influenced by Night Ranger softer side, Journey, Bon Jovi, etc.
This kind of classy Melodic Rock / AOR is always welcome from American musicians, which is becoming increasingly rare. We rely on the Europeans to keep the genre’s flame burning so acts like LastWorld are a precious gift we should treasure.

LASTWORLD – Over The Edge (2020)

LASTWORLD is guitarist / multi-instrumentalist / songwriter JIM SHEPARD and vocalist DAVID CAGLE. The new studio release “Over The Edge” is the follow up to their debut album “Time” on MelodicRock Records. JK Northrup was brought in again to boost the sonics, so fans will hear the best versions of these recordings.
Jim is delivering his best songs and performance to date and Cagle, although a singer of many styles, is most known for his melodic, soulful rock voice.

LASTWORLD

LASTWORLD – Time (2019)

Multi-instrumentalist / songwriter Jim Shepherd and vocalist David Cagle joined forces after approaching their label separately as each wanted to create more new music. The project both formed is named LASTWORLD, and their debut album titled ”Time”.
It is a good pairing, with Shepherd recently releasing his solo CD ‘Jaded’ and Cagle was half of the JK Northrup / David Cagle album released 2018 (both albums are well worth seeking out).
JK Northrup helps on ‘Time’ with the mastering, whilst Shepherd produced the album. And yes, this is classic Melodic Rock with some AOR touches.
