PRiSM – Armageddon [Canadian Collector Series remaster]

As requested, here’s more PRiSM, and their third studio album ”Armageddon” in its ‘Canadian Collector Series’ remastered release. Produced by legendary Bruce Fairbairn – who received the Canadian music industry 1980 Juno Award for ‘Producer of the Year’ for the album – and engineered by guru Bob Rock, ”Armageddon” is an incredibly quality LP, for many PRiSM’s finest moment.
Including songwriting & arranging handled by future star Bryan Adams and his partner Jim Vallance, ”Armageddon” had it all: commercial choruses, impressive pompy AOR melodies ala STYX, and progressive elegance.
There’s no doubt that if Canada would have had a better marketing system for music in the ’70s / ’80s, PRiSM would have become a worldwide sensation. The band is one of our all time favorites. Period.

PRISM – From The Vaults [the lost songs / rare versions]

We featured here some of the best material from Canadians PRiSM, and many of you asked for more. Here’s the very interesting release titled “From The Vaults“, taking, indeed, unreleased recordings from the band, rare remixes and alternate versions.
The compilation is focused on the most commercial era from the band, melodic rock with radio appeal and that early Eighties classic sound. And speaking of sound quality of the tracks featured here, all results very good. These are not demos but professionally recorded & produced songs.
Pure – and really good – 80s stuff.

PRiSM – Beat Street (1983) [Digitally Remastered + 9]

This is an album that not only should be featured here but it’s one of these essential CD’s into your collection: Canadians PRiSM diamond “Beat Street“.
Recorded in 1982 with master Richie Zito involved into production, songwriting and performing, contribution from the likes of Alan Pasqua, Timothy B. Schmit, Bill Champlin, Bobby Kimball, etc, and that bombastic sound from the era, “Beat Street” is one of the greatest ’80s Pompy AOR / Melodic Rock ever made.
This is taken from a now out of print remastered CD reissue, with the addion of 9 bonus tracks; 5 unreleased songs recorded during the same sessions, and four alternate versions of the songs featured on the album.
“Beat Street” is pure ’80s. “Beat Street” is AOR / Melodic Rock gold. “Beat Street” is A MUST HAVE.

PRiSM – Small Change (1981) [Digitally Remastered + 6]

Another album to check out from the ’80s Canadian Melodic Rock factory is without a doubt PRiSM 1981’s “Small Change“, and this digitally remastered reissue is the one to get: excellent sound and 6 bonus tracks.
After several strong LP’s, PRiSM got signed by Capitol in 1981 however they asked to replace the lead singer – original Ron Tabak was fired, enter the more melodic Henry Small – for the 6th album wisely entitled “Small Change”. It was not only a change at the mic, but also in the general musical approach, more commercial and FM radio friendly AOR.
For this matter, external songwriters and future super-stars were brought in, like Jim Vallance & Bryan Adams contributing the lead single “Don’t Let Him Know”, a wonderful fluffy AOR tune with a killer chorus.
The Bruce Turgon (later in Shadow King and Foreigner) penned AOR rocker “Heart And Soul” keeps you moving with style, on the intense…
