JONAH KOSLEN AND THE HEROES – Agora Live (2017)

Now this is very special post, featured in exclusive at 0dayrox: “Agora Live” the just released album by JONAH KOSLEN AND THE HEROES. This band was one of the best Melodic Rock / AOR exponents from the first half of the ’80s American scene with their cult LP ‘Aces’ – featured on the blog in its recent remastered / extended reissue here.

Koslen was part of the original MICHAEL STANLEY BAND and later formed another interesting group named BREATHLESS, releasing two strong albums which unfortunately went unnoticed. The band broke-up in 1981 and Koslen decided to create his own band, and take the total control song-wise / musically.
The LP ‘Aces’ appeared in 1982, and soon JONAH KOSLEN AND THE HEROES become a sensation in the US East Coast.

This concert was recorded on November 9, 1983, at the fabled Agora Ballroom in Cleveland, Ohio with THE HEROES at the peak of their powers, fresh out of the studio with their new release, the ‘Aces’ album.
Their 15 song set, (rounded out with 2 tracks recorded on St Patricks day, March 17, 1982) includes classic Koslen solo songs, The Heroes favorites, and a drop dead version of Neil Diamond’s “Cherry Cherry”.

“Agora Live” is absolutely fabulous. If you don’t like live albums, forget it, this is like a ‘live in the studio’ performance. The sound quality is incredibly pristine and clear, made with a local FM Radio Station professional equipment.

Jonah and that whole Cleveland / Ohio scene from the late ’70s / early ’80s are absolutely essential listening material; this album encapsulates that whole scene in an instant.
An energized performance plenty of great songs with all the melodic rock magic of the era, a must for fans and collectors.
