WHITESNAKE – Slide It In [Japan SHM-CD remastered MiniLP] Out Of Print

As requested, here’s the only version on mini-LP replica SHM-CD of WHITESNAKE‘s “Slide It In“, in its original 2000’s remaster (for many, the best done for this album), unfortunately now out of print. Yeah, there’s the more recent ‘Ultimate 6-CD Edition’, including a new 2019 mix, the US mix, the UK mix, and more, but this SHM-CD sonics are… different. It’s a matter of taste, we prefer this one.
“Slide It In” was Whitesnake’s breakthrough album in America, and one of the best in the ‘white serpens’ career.
Following up the splendid previous ‘Saints & Sinners’ album was not an easy task, but 1984’s “Slide It In” turned out to be an even greater triumph for David Coverdale’s Whitesnake. From the boisterous machismo of “Spit It Out” and “All or Nothing” to the resigned despair of “Gambler” and “Standing in the Shadow,” and the slippery title track, everything seems to click.
For hit singles, look no further than the twin guitar attack of “Guilty of Love” and the sheer poetry and emotion of “Love Ain’t No Stranger,” one of the decade’s greatest power ballads, bar none.
Not to be outdone, “Slow an’ Easy” is a masterpiece of sexual tension and the kind of power-blues which no one does as well as Whitesnake…

WHITESNAKE – Come An’ Get It [Japan Ltd. SHM-CD remastered MiniLP +6] *HQ*

As requested, here’s the only version on SHM-CD / cardboard sleeve LP-replica of WHITESNAKE 1981’s “Come An’ Get It“, remastered plus 6 bonus tracks. In our humble opinion, this is the best digital version of this album you can get in terms of sound fidelity. Of course, nothing beats the original vinyl pressings.
“Come An’ Get It” is not considered by critics as the best Whitesnake album, however, it’s a very good classic hard rock record and some songs are little pearls.
Around the time, David Coverdale assembled a seriously tight band that included the ridiculously stellar line-up of Micky Moody & Bernie Marsden on guitars / backing vocals, Jon Lord on keyboards, Neil Murray on bass and the fabulously in-the-pocket Ian Paice on drums. You couldn’t – and can’t – really get better than that.
These guys not only had some great albums on their roster as Whitesnake, they had also racked up some serious karma from all their other live, studio and band projects…

A=440 (Tommy La Verdi & Matt Bissonette) – A=440 [CD reissue] (1986) HQ *Exclusive*

As requested, here’s the only album from super-group A=440, and their self-titled “A=440” appeared in 1986 via major label Casablanca Records, but never reissued on CD. However we have this very good sounding bootleg release by Rock-It Records specializing in reissues of obscure rock and metal albums never released on CD.
A=440 were an American AOR / pop-rock band from Los Angeles formed by stupendous vocalist Tommy La Verdi who later teamed with ex-Thin Lizzy guitarist Scott Gorham in the awesome melodic hard rock band 21 Guns, and more recently in L.R.S.
On bass and backing vocals there’s talented Matt Bissonette (David Lee Roth, Lita Ford, Stan Bush), on guitar and producing we find early ’80s AORsters Silver Condor’s Nick Brown, on keyboards session man Rich Ruttenberg (Laura Branigan), and requested drummer Tom Walsh (America, Stan Bush).
As you see, all capable musicians related to the melodic rock / rock&pop genre, and that’s what we will find on “A=440″, a pure mid-Eighties sounding album. The songs are pretty poppy, radio-ready, with a flair of Mr. Mister and Canadian acts of this ilk. Some tracks wouldn’t have been out of place in movie soundtracks from the era.
Fans of 21 Guns, Giuffria, and classy ’80s AOR sounds need to check out track #3 ”Take Me To Heart” – this song alone worth the entire album…

VYPER – Prepared To Strike [Retrospect Records reissue +5] *HQ*

We all know how great the 1984 metal explosion was, with so many great bands releasing CLASSIC albums during that time. It was at the height of the glam / sleazy craze that VYPER, a Kansas City act, left to join the troops led by Ratt, Motley Crue, Quiet Riot… This little-known band released a real gem in this rock genre during that same year.
Vyper was produced by Eric Greif, alias Griffy, who would later become very active on the thrash scene and was also known for his close collaboration with Motley Crue manager Allan Coffman (Leathür Records). “Prepared To Strike” was released in 1984 by Greenworld Records in the USA, and as the label worked with Dutch outfit Roadrunner, the album found a good number of buyers in Europe.
VYPER were much heavier and more metallic-sounding compared to a majority of the ’80s glam metal movement. Actually, they often approaches the heaviness territory of W.A.S.P. and Lizzy Borden, the sorts of glam outfits that were essentially equally intense to most of the straight-up heavy metal at the time.
As requested, this is the Retrospect Records CD reissue of ”Prepared To Strike”, including as bonus tracks the EP Vyper released in 1985 before disbanding.
Vyper show off a real metallic understanding of early ’80s hard rock, complete with big solos, a big drum sound, and effective, soulful vocals from Christy Black. The end result is another quality band that somehow got picked over during those commercial rock days…

TONY CAREY – Blue Highway (2018 expanded edition) *HQ*

Keyboardist / vocalist TONY CAREY started a successful solo career after his time with Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow. ‘Blue Highway’ is one of our favorite Carey solo LP’s, originally released in 1985 so you guess which kind of sound to expect. This Blue Highway (2018 expanded edition) is a welcomed reissue to re-discover this very good album, plus 2 extra tracks.
More AOR oriented than his previous solo works, Carey’s ‘Blue Highway’ sports that 1985 polished sound production handled by Peter Hauke (White Lion) and mastered by Greg Fulginiti (Aerosmith, Whitesnake).
‘We Wanna Live’ is a wonderful opener, a racing AOR number with fine guitars / synths and a catchy chorus. ‘She Moves Like A Dancer’ bring to mind Michael Stanley Band, a very American tune with a home-grown, earthy rock and roll sound, with huge use of melody.
‘Live Wire’ is classic Carey, and classic ’80s; a midtempo full of atmosphere which has a lot in common with the Canadian AOR sound from the era: pristine sound and clean arrangements. Title track ‘Blue Highway’ is an elegant, suit & tie AOR ballad, ‘Love Don’t Bother Me’ goes for radio friendly poppy lite AOR, then ‘Katy Be Mine’ has some of The Synch melodic rock to it…

WHITESNAKE – Ready An’ Willing [Japan SHM-CD remastered MiniLP +5] *HQ*

As requested, here’s the only version on SHM-CD / cardboard sleeve reissue of WHITESNAKE 1980’s classic “Ready An’ Willing“, remastered plus 5 bonus tracks. In our humble opinion, the best reissue you can get in terms of sound quality.
By the time Whitesnake unveiled their third studio long-player “Ready An’ Willing”, David Coverdale’s crew of English bluesy hard rockers had already been alive and kicking for a couple of years. But to say they’d achieved true stardom would be something of an overstatement.
Instead, it was “Ready An’ Willing” that signaled the career turning point they’d been working toward, as it climbed into the U.K. Top 10 and became Whitesnake’s first effort to even chart outside their homeland.
The catalyst for all this being the group’s first bona fide hit single in “Fool for Your Loving” – one of the best Whitesnake songs ever – and perhaps some timely upgrades to their line up too, with the arrival of former Deep Purple drummer Ian Paice.
By joining up, Paice was of course reuniting with his erstwhile Purple bandmates, Coverdale and organist Jon Lord, and simply adding his formidable talents to those of guitarists Bernie Marsden and Micky Moody, plus bassist Neil Murray — all of which elevated the band’s creative and performing powers to the next level…

WHITESNAKE – Saints & Sinners +3 [Japan SHM-CD remastered MiniLP] *HQ*

As requested, here’s the only version on SHM-CD / cardboard sleeve of WHITESNAKE 1982’s “Saints & Sinners“, including bonus tracks – unfortunately now out of print.
“Saints & Sinners” was the first Whitesnake album to shoot the band outside UK and woke up the Rock world and take notice.
For many fans, “Saints & Sinners” is Whitesnake’s finest moment. It is for sure among my 3 favorites from Coverdale & co LP. Perhaps it was the arrival of future Phenomena mastermind, new guitarist Mel Galley (replacing founding member Bernie Marsden) that re-energized the band with a sharper edge.
In this record, Whitesnake turned ’80s hard rock, still retaining their classic blueprint…

CRYWOLF – Anthology [All ’80s recordings remastered / No Remorse Records] *Exclusive*

As requested, here’s an obscure band that needs to be discovered by all classic metal / hard rock fans: UK’s CRYWOLF. Formed by active musicians from the effervescent first half of the Eighties British rock scene – all were in various bands before and after CryWolf – the group started operations early in the decade, hence, being part of the NWOBHM.
Founding member vocalist Mark Grimmett (previously drummer for other bands) is the brother of the late Steve Grimmett (GRIM REAPER), whom helped CryWolf with the recording of their only officially released EP, 1989’s ‘The First Twelve Inches’. And yes, Mark is the lead singer on the recent ATLANTIC comeback 2024 album ”Another World” (one of the best CD’s of the year, btw).
CryWolf recorded many songs all over their career being part of LP compilations such as “Metal Maniaxe”, “It’s Unheard Of!”, “Europe’s Best Metal”, etc. Also, CryWolf released various indie cassettes; ‘Down On Love’ (1985), ‘Time Runs Out’ (1986), and ‘Untouched’ (1987).
As requested, here’s CRYWOLF “Anthology“, released by No Remorse Records compiling all these songs into one single CD, remastered, obtaining a good sound quality.
Musically CRYWOLF takes the best of the late NWOBHM era – metal with melody – and consistent hard rock groove from the British breed, all with very strong vocals by Mark Grimmett. There’s incredibly good rockin’ tunes here, with bite at places, with tons of melody on others, including a good use of keyboards.
A really nice find indeed!

BRAVE RIVAL – Fight or Flight (2024) *HQ*

Nominated for “Best Emerging Blues Rock Artist Of The Year”, sharing stage with classic rock giants, and a fantastic debut album in 2022 were all goals for British 5-piece BRAVE RIVAL. Well, present time, and the band’s sophomore, new effort “Fight or Flight” blows all these achievements simply because this is the best thing they’ve have done so far.
Yeap, “Fight or Flight” is one of the best Rock albums of 2024. Marketed as a Blues outfit, BRAVE RIVAL are much more than that – blues based rock n’ roll, yes, but hard rockin’ at places, injected with soul, mojo, melody – even hooks!
BRAVE RIVAL is fortunate in having a hypnotic duo vying for lead and twin vocals in female wonders Lindsey Bonnick and Chloe Josephine – shades of early Heart and Pat Benatar appear all over “Fight or Flight”, and you’ll love this from songwriting and playing to the wonderful production sound…

KISS – Killers [Japan Hi-Res MQA-CD UHQCD / DSD remaster 2020] HQ *EXCLUSIVE*

Universal Music Japan has released a couple months ago a High Resolution disc (MQA-CD + UHQCD) of KISSKillers“, a 2020 DSD remaster based on US original analog tape converted to 352.8kHz / 24bit. This disc sold out, and was requested by many.
At the time of its release (1982) “Killers” became a rarity, at least for the American public, because it wasn’t released in the USA. The album included some of the recent KISS hits re-mixed, but also 4 new songs, recorded specifically for this disc.
These new songs were recorded at the behest of Phonogram / Casablanca Records, in response to the commercial failure of 1981’s Music from “The Elder”. Numerous outside songwriters and session musicians were employed for the writing and recording of the four new songs on ”Killers”, as well as the subsequent album, Creatures of the Night. Canadian Adam Mitchell co-wrote ‘I’m A Legend Tonight’ and ‘Partners In Crime’, while songwriter and musician Mikel Japp, who co-wrote three songs on Paul Stanley’s 1978 solo album, helped with “Down on Your Knees” with Stanley and Bryan Adams.
The sound definition of this MQA-CD + UHQCD is excellent.

TEMPESTA – Reborn (2024) *HQ*

TEMPESTA is one of the most important Melodic Hard Rock acts in Switzerland, with five albums and various EP’s under their belt, and achieving local Platinum sells status. However, Tempesta is a band who seem to be flying a bit under the international radar, not well known outside central Europe. A pity, as they are a terrific act.
Perhaps the fact Tempesta has been freezed by its members several times due to other projects affected their momentum. Anyway, after ten years since Tempesta’s last studio album, the quartet are back with a new CD, “Reborn” – just in time for the band’s 30th anniversary.
The album title and cover art speak for themselves – Tempesta ‘reborn’ after a decade. And with a really good album. They have had some songwriting help from talented Michael Bormann, and Krokus drummer Freddy Steady & Marc Storace appear as guests on the bonus track, a kick ass cover of ZZ Top classic ‘Sharp Dressed Man’.
“Reborn” is a melodic hard rock album with a modern edge, commercial in its foundation with catchy songs and such. The variation is one of its merits, the band go from hard rocking riffs, to quite soft and melodic. Think Harem Scarem 2000’s / Rubber, Waltham, Tony Harnell’s Mercury Train, bit of Gotthard – but Tempesta have their very own sound.
We like the double-guitar work providing a very punchy feel to them. And they do have a great production as well as a singer that fits excellently into the puzzle that their music is. This is a truly solid release, it is clear that these guys really know what they are doing…

V.A. – Kings Of Sunset Strip Vol. 1 [rare John Corabi recordings] (2004) *Rare*

As requested, here’s a rarity for all late ’80s Californian hard rock aficionados, especially John Corabi fans. Released via small Stevie Rachelle label RLS Records, “Kings Of Sunset Strip Vol. 1” compiles recordings of 4 unsigned bands from the Hollywood Sunset Strip golden era.
The bands featured were among the best from the scene circa 1987-1988: Young Gunns (later morphed into the awesome Wildside), Jailhouse, Tommi Gunn and Angora (feat. John Corabi on lead vocals) > 3 tracks each. All songs were recorded in professional studios; Angora songs taped 1988, Tommi Gunn 1988, Young Gunns 1989, and Jailhouse 1991 (co-produced by Gunnar Nelson).
At the time this “Kings Of Sunset Strip Vol. 1” was released in 2004, all these tracks were unreleased. In recent years, these bands recordings finally were released in one way or another… except the Angora songs.
There’s an Angora demo circulating among traders, but with a very poor sound. Here you’ll find these songs with a young John Corabi on lead vocals in its original, good quality. And these are really fine tunes! It’s a shame Angora never recorded an album.
Btw, the back cover art of “Kings Of Sunset Strip Vol. 1” is wrongly printed; the Angora song ‘Weekend Love Affair’ isn’t track 3, actually it is track 2 on the CD. And no, there isn’t more volumes of ‘Kings Of Sunset Strip’, this is the only compilation of rarities done by RLS Records…

NITRATE – Feel The Heat [Deluxe Edition] (2024) HQ *0dayrox Exclusive*

British melodic rock / AOR band NITRATE is about to release the Deluxe Edition of their latest album, “Feel The Heat”, on December 20th via Frontiers Music. Vocalist Alexander Strandell comments: “It feels great to give the fans something more from this amazing album. It’s an honour to be involved with the Nitrate guys.”
‘Feel The Heat [Deluxe Edition]” adds 4 extra songs, including one written & recorded just two months ago, a re-arranged track listing, and brand new artwork.
Nitrate’s fourth studio album, “Feel The Heat”, was produced & mixed by Martin Bros Productions (Vega), it features a duet and backing vocals by female rock artist Issa, backing vocals by rock legend Paul Laine (Danger Danger / The Defiants), along with a song co/written by legendary songwriter Bob Mitchell (co-writer of the Billboard #1 song Cheap Trick’s “The Flame”).
There are also backing vocals by Leon Robert Winteringham (LRW Project), Alan Clark (Change of Heart), and a couple of co-writes by Rob Wylde (Midnite City / Tigertailz). With Richard Jacques and Alex Cooper (Devilfire, Corvus) coming on board, Nitrate delivered a record full of anthemic hook filled tracks and a more intense AOR style…

WHITE TYGER – Back of The Class (2024)

Since formed almost a decade ago, British classic hard rockers WHITE TYGËR have been getting better and better. They have spread out across the UK and abroad and even landed some impressive support slots.
After the success of their 2022 debut album, they are ready to expand the fanbase world-wide with the upcoming sophomore LP titled “Back Of The Class”, another fierce slab of Old School Hard Rock from the 80s and early 90s plenty of kick ass riffs / solos and that classic vocals from the era.
Frontman Nip Turner said: “Back Of The Class is all about breaking free from the expectations and carving out your own path. It’s a tribute to those who feel they don’t quite fit the mold, who sit at the back of the class dreaming of something bigger”.
After first listen we can say “Back Of The Class” is a big step forward for White Tygër: expect electrifying riffs, soul-stirring lyrics, and melodies that will stick with you long after the music stops, reminiscent to Skid Row’s finest hours. Each track tells a story of rebellion, resilience, and the relentless pursuit of dreams.
And then there’s the production level, way up from previous album, fuller, defined, powerful – most the time “Back Of The Class” sounds like a major label product from 1988…

RAZOR SHARP – On My Way [Deluxe Edition / Retrospect] HQ *Exclusive*

As requested, here’s the pretty awesome New Jersey ’80s band RAZOR SHARP, and their album released by Retrospect Records some time ago – all ’80s recorded material previously unreleased. The Retrospect CD sold out, so the band re-released tha album themselves now titled ”On My Way / Deluxe Edition” adding extra tracks.
Razor Sharp was formed in 1980 by guitarist Tom Saffioti and drummer Billy Orrico (currently in Angel, ex Biloxi, ex Tug of War). The band made a name by themselves in the East Coast circuit with their brand of polished, catchy American Melodic Hard Rock music, well presented shows and proper management. Razor Sharp was very close to sign a record deal, but good luck wasn’t by their side.
Most of the recordings into ”On My Way / Deluxe Edition” were done circa 1987-1988, so expect that highly melodic rock with midtempo AOR atmosphere from that period. Additionally, most the songs are professionally / studio recorded demos the band invested to get record companies attention.
You can’t resist to stupendous tracks like title track ‘On My Way (Back Home)’, ‘Back In My Arms (Again)’, ‘Hearts Grown Cold’, classic American Melodic Hard Rock / AOR…
