Melodic Hard rockers BARROS are releasing today their new album “More Humanity Please…” mixed and mastered by Harem Scarem singer Harry Hess in Canada, and the outstanding artwork was in charge of artist Gustavo Sazes (Gus G, Jeff Scott Soto, Kamelot, etc…)

BARROS is a side project of Tarantula’s guitar player Paulo Barros, however this is real band with a stable line up and with touring plans.
The album is comprised of very melodic and simple structures with a direct message, with an “all about the song” approach.
All written by vocalist Ray Van D, the lyrics explore themes as diverse as “love as a driving force that goes beyond” to a critical take on the formatting of Art and Music produced by corporations, “fast food music”; as well as an invitation on the reflection on the ephemerality of Life, the lack of humanity in the World today and the banality of violence in social media, our dependence on technology and a dose of humor that is Murphy’s law.

‘My Everything’ the uptempo rocking opener driven by Barrro’s stacatto riffs and a catchy chorus, ‘Disconnect’ is more grooving with a nice bounce, while ‘My Kingdom for a Day’ is energetic but melodic. The band has an overall sound an feel reminiscent of Gotthard, some Jeff Scott Soto bands, etc. Not at the same level of course, but effective.

‘Take Me as I Am’ is slower, a midtempo semi-ballad with fine harmonies and a bit of ’90s Whitesnake on it, the darker ‘Tearing Us Apart’ some Dokken, then ‘When It Rains It Pours’ adds a little of heavy funky rhythms to its feel good attitude.
Title track is very solid over the guitar work (including acoustics) and the original verses, and for the end the band rocks with the melodic ‘How Does It Feel’, a dynamic track inspired by Mr. Big.

BARROS - More Humanity Please... (2018) inside

BARROS is a more than interesting band from Paulo Barros, plenty of strong melodic hard rock songs with an early ’90s feel, inspired from both American and European styles from the genre.
There’s a great guitar work, very good lead vocals an harmonies, and overall a polished production.
