After the new PENDULUM OF FORTUNE album featured yesterday, some of you asked for the band’s previous album “Searching For The God Inside”.
This is the debut work from this band founded by legendary MSG / The Sweet / Eloy drummer Bodo Schopf and Pink Cream 69 / ex-Voodoo Circle vocalist David Readman.

Schopf met Readman while on tour in 2014. He played the Englishman some of his newly written songs and Readman was so enthusiastic that he committed to an album project on the spot.
The recruitment of bassist Franky R was ano-brainer, as he and Schopf had played together in the Michael Schenker Group, plus he had additional pedigree having played with Kingdom Come, Vanden Plasand other excellent acts. The quartet was completed with the recruitment of Russian guitarist Vladimir Shevyakov, a skilled studio musician and classical guitar player.

Throughout the album, the band jumps from classic Hard Rock to Melodic to a softer sound. Each track is different to the last and shows off the diversity this band has.

The first track ‘Crossed That Line’ jumps straight in with heavy riffs & vocals which is a stark contrast to the mellower refrains of the title track and ‘Born Again’.
Readman suits the music well, unleashing his inner Coverdale one minute and then adopting a more metal edged singing style when required.

There’s a touch of progressive on ‘Crazy Thoughts’ where the heavy riffs match the equally energetic vocals of Readman. Not to be outdone Bodo Scopf lets fly on a drum solo midway through the song.
The range of the tracks allows there to be something to everyone’s taste. Not to mention the great solos throughout, Shevyakov is really good on the six-strings.

PENDULUM OF FORTUNE (David Readman) - Searching For The God Inside - back

Get past the truly awful album cover, and inside lies a treat of a classic hard rock album, featuring plenty of guitar solos, stupendous vocal melodies and the occasionally drum solo, which is fair enough as the band is built around a drummer.
“Searching For The God Inside” is as strong as Pendulum Of Fortune’s new album, good old-school hard rock from the heart.
