TORA TORA – Unplugged EP (2020) + To Rock To Roll EP (1987) *EXCLUSIVE*
Memphis hard rockers TORA TORA are releasing their new 5-song acoustic EP “Unplugged”, limited to 100 copies. The independent project was ready for the presses when the Covid-19 pandemic shutdown occurred and now is finally ready for sale.
Additionally, we have the mega rare Limited Edition of “To Rock To Roll EP“, Tota Tora’s first indie EP from 1987 only released on cassette, now reissued for the first time on CD. The band has allowed for only 100 copies of this rare indie album to be manufactured (sold at U$D 100) and has said it will never be released again.
This limited edition 5-song EP “Unplugged” features highlights from Tora Tora’s one-off acoustic performance recorded at Memphis’ historic Lafayette’s Music Room in June of 2019. Blending well-known songs alongside a couple of deep cuts, this is a rare glimpse of the band’s more subdued side.
Just over 30 years ago, hard-working, blue collar hard rock band Tora Tora were on a high after winning a ‘Battle of the Bands’ contest giving them the opportunity to record and release their very own independent album.
The end result was the EP entitled ‘To Rock To Roll’. While the look / artwork of the indie cassette was very amateurish and the recording display a certain demo feel, the music was undeniably representative of a band that had what it would take to run with the ‘Big Dogs’… and the major labels did come calling.
This EP led to Tora Tora being signed by A&M Records.
Both EP’s are must-haves for Tora Tora fans and collectors of the obscure.
