THE ALAN PARSONS PROJECT – Vulture Culture (+7 ‘Vulture Sessions’) [2024 Remaster] *HQ*
THE ALAN PARSONS PROJECT goes definitely pop-rock: that’s 1985 “Vulture Culture”. Master sound engineer Alan Parsons and his talented partner Eric Woolfson always spiced their progressive music with accessible melodies.
We just love this LP… It was 1985, and APP resulted not immune to the trend of radio friendly tunes, and for this album they increased the poppy knob to the maximum. However, as happened with all Alan Parsons Project albums, there’s a ‘proggy concept’ all over the track list.
The title “Vulture Culture” is a twist on the expression used to describe unworldly people steeped in the arts (Culture Vulture) and reflected the ever increasing ruthlessness of mankind in a world of stark economic reality… Yeah, this record seems written last month.
Musically, this is perfect rock&pop at places similar to Mike + The Mechanics, but still there’s room for proggy moments on the LP ‘side two’.
Now Arista/Legacy is releasing “Vulture Culture (2024 Remaster)“, alongside “Vulture Sessions” featuring alternate mixes, demos, and outtakes – all especially remastered for digital / iTunes. Sound quality is excellent.
