ZAPPACOSTA – Over 60 Minutes With… [reissue]

After the recent ZAPPACOSTA self-titled debut album rer remaster post, one of you asked for his 2nd, titled ‘A To Z’. That album never was released on CD. However, this official compilation CD “Over 60 Minutes With…” includes all ‘A To Z‘ tracks (minus one).

Alfie Zappacosta released ’84 his debut album ‘Zappacosta’ featuring several members of Alfie’s previous band Surrender (Steve Jensen, Mitche Starkman, Paul Delaney and Gerald O’Brien) and guest appearances by Jeff Jones (Red Rider) and Gerry Mosby (The Hunt, Rhinegold).
The LP spawned several hit singles including the Bob Ezrin co-write “Passion” and landed Zappacosta a Juno Award for ‘Most Promising Male Vocalist Of The Year’.

As 1985 marched on Zappacosta’s next album was in the proverbial can, as his recording label Capitol dragged their heels.
In the interim he performed in the musical stage production of ‘Evita’ as Che Guevera and was one of many Canadian superstars to lend his voice to the “Tears Are Not Enough” Ethiopia relief record ‘We Are The World’. With the ‘Evita’ production on a roll, Zappacosta received word that his album would be picked up by Capitol Records after all.
“A To Z” (also known as ‘A-Z’) was released in 1986 and resulted in another fistful of hits.

Songs like the ballad ‘Nothing Could Stand In Your Way’, the Hi-tech AOR of ‘Turn It On’ (similar to Robert Tepper), the joyful ‘Another Man’s Gain’ (80 action-movie type AOR), or the catchy synth-filled ‘Burnin” (a favorite with a killer guitar solo) are pure Eighties.
The rest of the songs on “Over 60 Minutes With…” are taken from Zappacosta’s self-titled.

While “A To Z” never was released on CD, this 2013 reissue of “Over 60 Minutes With…” packs the entire album on CD, only one track missing.
