Swiss rockers THE ORDER are about to release their new album “Rock ‘N’ Rumble” tomorrow May 6, and from the first chords the band declared their musical manifesto: they play old-school hard rock straight out of the Eighties, in their most traditional way.

Take the classic sound & style of Kiss, Helix, Y&T, some early Def Leppard and Whitesnake to name a few, and you have a pretty good reference of what to expect from The Order and “Rock ‘N’ Rumble”.
The Order’s formula is simple; build songs around an infectious rock groove, vocal harmony / melody, and then spice things up with catchy riffs and blazing guitar solos. And they are darn good, effective at it.
Mixed by Achim Köhler at Indiscreet Audio (Primal Fear, Edguy), the band wanted a classic sound but at the same time updated to the 21st Century. And in this aspect I can hear some Gotthard / Shakra similarity.

The arena ready opener ‘Play It Loud’, the groovy title track, the really melodic midtempo ‘No One Can Take You Away From Me’ (with a strong Whitesnake feel), and both the ’87 Kiss sounding ‘Wild One’ and ‘Reason to Stay’ (a highlight) are among the best cuts on the CD.
To make things a bit sharper, The Order can inject some edge into their songs as with ‘Fight’ (featuring a great guest guitar solo from Shakra’s Thom Blunier) or the speedy ‘Karma’, with V.O. Pulver (Gurd, Poltergeist) sharing lead vocals with the band’s main singer Gianni Pontillo.
It appears The Order the also have a softer side with the hard rock ballad ‘Turn The Pages’, yet the song still has some strong riffs and a forceful finish in the second half.

“Rock ‘N’ Rumble” finds The Order firmly established in their ’80s classic hard rock sound & groove. The band show their influences under the sleeve all over the record, and while this is not musically ground-breaking, it’s all extremely hooky and well rounded material.
The polished, clean production helps to enjoy these 10 tracks even more, so if you dig the classic hard rock of that period in music, you will like this album a lot.
