IN FAITH – There’s A Storm Coming [Korean Edition +1] *EXCLUSIVE*

As requested, here’s the one and only album by IN FAITH in its now out of print Asian Edition including a bonus track. Titled ”There’s A Storm Coming”, this project formed by Pete Godfrey, Tony Marshall (ex Pride, Vaughn), and Pete Newdeck (Tainted Nation, Newman, ex Eden’s Curse) was one of the best AOR releases of 2014.

They say what goes around comes around. It appears for Godfrey and Marshall, the principals behind In Faith, that’s been the case. Early collaborations were interesting and ambitious, yet nothing came of them.
Fate or providence can favor the few, and both musicians began writing and playing together. Songs developed, and drummer / producer Pete Newdeck (Tainted Nation, Newman, ex Eden’s Curse) joined in.
The final result is In Faith and their wonderful debut album, “There’s A Storm Coming”,
a contemporary revival of classic British Melodic Hard Rock / AOR.

After early demos were presented, the UK music press was comparing the band’s sound to Tyketto, Danger Danger, H.E.A.T and early Harem Scarem, all not exactly Brit bands. But these music punters are on to something. I might even through in some flavor of Def Leppard as Godfrey has a small timbre of Joe Elliot in his voice.

Largely, “There’s A Storm Coming” is classic Melodic Hard Rock / AOR in the best tradition that arose from the Eighties in all aspects: melodies galore, catchy choruses, fantastic performances, etc, – you know what I mean. And the songs, awesome songs.

Beyond the strong song composition, In Faith’s strength are numerous. Not the least of which are the incredible vocal harmonies, big riffs and lead solos, and that inherent sense of melody and groove that defines this genre.
Of the rockers within, like “Radio”, “Bitter End”, “Church of Rock n’ Roll” and “In Flames”, they’re quite raucous, edgy at times. Other songs tap more of the AOR side including “Does It Feel Like Love” and “If That’s What Love Means”, both arena anthems but also the light acoustic ballad “Leave Me Now”.

All three display the strength of In Faith’s vocal arrangement and harmonies. For his part, Godfrey is steady and strong, rising above the music, and sounding like a man half his age.
Lastly, thanks to Newdeck, there’s a real polish to the production, making the songs sound balanced and crisp, but without the plastic gloss found in so many modern recordings. The mastering was done (guess what) by Harem Scarem’s leader Harry Hess.

Imagine a Melodic Hard Rock / AOR album that takes back you right into the heyday of the genre, the one that screams the late ’80s with every single note and chord on it and rarely – if ever at all – wanders off this beaten track. With In Faith’s debut album “There’s A Storm Coming”, such a concept stops being only an Eighties AOR fan’s chimera.
This was one of the ‘record of the year’ in 2014 – but In Faith is a band has that ‘special touch’, that ‘pepper’ so difficult to capture today; the real ‘Eighties feeling’. And I love it.
