JOSHUA – Intense Defense [Bad Reputation Records reissue] HQ (out of print)

Formed in the early ’80s by virtuoso guitarist Joshua Perahia, JOSHUA delivered during the decade a bunch of very good records mixing hard rock, AOR and melodic US metal.
With a new line up including powerhouse vocalist Rob Rock, JOSHUA recorded “Intense Defense” in 1988, a collection of riff-driven commercial US metal / melodic hard rock characterized by melodic songwriting backed by the band’s polished vocal harmonies and first-rate musicianship.
Indeed, this is an ‘intense’ rocking album here in the Bad Reputation Records reissue, one of the first releases by the label after changing its name from Axe Killer Records…

JOSHUA – Resurrection +2 [Collectors Edition]

Long time Melodic Hard Rock AOR fans should remember JOSHUA, the American combo led by guitarist Joshua Perahia and their excellent ’80s albums ‘Surrender’ and ‘Intense Defense’, or the more Hard Rock oriented debut ‘Hand is Quicker Than The Eye’.
Since the golden decade Perahia has released only two albums, one solo and other under the M Pire moniker.
But almost after 25 years Joshua returned to his first love; Joshua-the Band, and an album properly named “Resurrection“, in this collectors edition including two bonus tracks.
In many ways, “Resurrection” sounds like it could have been the logical follow-up to the great ‘Intense Defense’ (1988), as many of the same styles and tones are incorporated into this CD. Accompanied by the incredible and unmistakable voice of Mark Boals and seasoned instrumentalists, this new version of Joshua has delivered a quality rockin’ album for all tastes.
Opener “Divine Intervention” is catchy, muscular AOR track and a great way to start…

JOSHUA – Surrender [Digitally Remastered] Out Of Print

Here we have another request and pleasure to fulfill: JOSHUA‘s “Surrender [Digitally Remastered]“. Originally released in 1985, this is the remastered reissue done by Joshua Perahia himself under his full name. I still prefer the original cover artwork, but heck, what matter is the music and this is fantastic slice of US melodic hard rock / AOR.
Regarded as one of the best Melodic Hard Rock records released by an American indie band during the ’80s, “Surrender” should have sold millions if the recording company had been properly promoted the band or a major would have pick up them.
This remaster (seems there’s some re-recorded parts too) sounds excellent, more clear vocals and punchier kick drum.
Highly Recommended
