LORDI – Lordiversity: Spooky Sextravaganza Spectacular [’90s Metal / Alt] (2021)

LORDI will release no fewer than seven new studio albums in 2021. And frontman Mr. Lordi admits that he was had originally hoped to release 10 new albums, only to have that idea vetoed by the Finnish group’s record label.
Titled ‘Lordiversity’, the box set will be available as seven CDs, or seven vinyl records. Each album will see the former Eurovision-winninig Finns tackle a different genre: hard rock, disco, progressive rock, heavy metal, AOR, modern metal.
The albums will be standalone available, and here’s the final CD from the set. “Spooky Sextravaganza Spectacular” swerve into ROB ZOMBIE and NINE INCH NAILS territory makes perfect historical sense and, as fans may expect, works well with Mr. Lordi’s hook-stuffed but grim-hearted blueprint.
“Demon Supreme” is the best song WHITE ZOMBIE never wrote in the 90s; “Killusion” is stuttering, EBM-style synth rock; “Goliath” is the best MARILYN MANSON rip-off anyone will hear this year; “Shake The Baby Silent” harnesses bad taste big riffs, for a deliciously dumb, industrial rock hoedown.
It is all, almost without exception, stupidly entertaining.

LORDI – Lordiversity: Abusement Park [the mid-80s era] (2021)

LORDI will release no fewer than seven new studio albums in 2021. And frontman Mr. Lordi admits that he was had originally hoped to release 10 new albums, only to have that idea vetoed by the Finnish group’s record label.
Titled ‘Lordiversity’, the box set will be available as seven CDs, or seven vinyl records. Each album will see the former Eurovision-winninig Finns tackle a different genre: hard rock, disco, progressive rock, heavy metal, AOR, thrash/speed and industrial metal.
The albums will be standalone available, and we have here another favorite from the box; “Abusement Park“. If it’s thunderous classic metal / hard rock with a strong spiritual link to the early / mid-80s you want – then the fourth album ‘Abusement Park’ in this absurdly opulent set is the one for you.
“Abusement Park” is a treat for fans of big, glossy singalong metal anthems, as songs like the arena-targeting title track and the ridiculously catchy “Grrr!” pay rowdy tribute to SCORPIONS, DOKKEN, KISS, W.A.S.P. and countless other bands from the beginning of ’80s metal’s first era of commercial dominance…

LORDI – Lordiversity: Humanimals [the late ’80s era] (2021)

LORDI will release no fewer than seven new studio albums in 2021. And frontman Mr. Lordi admits that he was had originally hoped to release 10 new albums, only to have that idea vetoed by the Finnish group’s record label.
Titled ‘Lordiversity‘, the box set will be available as seven CDs, or seven vinyl records. Each album will see the former Eurovision-winninig Finns tackle a different genre: hard rock, disco, progressive rock, heavy metal, AOR, thrash/speed and industrial metal.
The albums will be standalone available, and we have here our favorite from the box; “Humanimals“, covering the rock sound & style from the second half of the ’80s, embracing the radio-friendly sheen of peak DEF LEPPARD, BON JOVI and SAMMY HAGAR-era VAN HALEN, delivering several genuinely great songs along the way: “Be My Maniac” and the loping groove of the distinctly LEPPARD-like “Like A Bee To The Honey” both standing out.
What?…Lordi doing bombastic, hugely produced Melodic Hard Rock / Pop-Metal? Yeah, and they are darn good!

LORDI – Lordiversity: Skelectric Dinosaur [’70s Arena Rock] (2021)

LORDI will release no fewer than seven new studio albums in 2021. And frontman Mr. Lordi admits that he was had originally hoped to release 10 new albums, only to have that idea vetoed by the Finnish group’s record label.
Titled ‘Lordiversity‘, the box set will be available as seven CDs, or seven vinyl records. Each album will see the former Eurovision-winning Finns tackle a different genre: hard rock, disco, progressive rock, heavy metal, AOR, thrash/speed and industrial metal.
The albums will be standalone available, and here’s Lordi’s take on classic arena rock; “Skelectric Dinosaur“.
The disc kicks things off with an inch-perfect homage to early KISS and ALICE COOPER; the guitar tones and strutting, New York-via-Detroit simplicity of the songwriting is absolutely bang on the money throughout, and songs like “Maximum-O-Lovin'” and “Blow My Fuse” are very nearly the equal of the ageless anthems they are saluting…

LORDI – Lordiversity: The Masterbeast From The Moon [late ’70s Pomp / Prog] (2021)

The albums will be standalone available, and here’s “The Masterbeast From The Moon“, plunging into the bombastic and elaborated world of late ’70s pomp rock / prog rock, with shades of everything from KANSAS, RUSH and STYX through to MAGNUM and SAGA, hence the songs are more complex with varying time signatures and keyboards being front and center to create that progressive sound…

LORDI – Lordiversity : Abracadaver (2021)

LORDI will release no fewer than seven new studio albums in the next months.
The albums will be standalone available, and after ‘Superflytrap’, now it’s the time for another standalone volume; “Abracadaver“. Here Lordi makes their take on ’90s-style metal.
From its eccentric, spaghetti western-style intro to the face-ripping pure metal of songs like “Devilium” and “Beast Of Both Worlds”, Lordi’s mastery of all metallic trades is on full display.
At times as heavy as prime Pantera, and full of “Painkiller”-era PRIEST-isms, it’s a non-stop riot of razor riffs, gonzoid choruses and unexpected twists…

LORDI – Superflytrap (2021)

LORDI will release no fewer than seven new studio albums on November 26.
The albums will be standalone available, and we have here “Superflytrap” where the band goes ‘disco’. We never have been fans of Lordi’s music, but “Superflytrap” is a fun curveballs: this is acollection of AOR-tinged disco rock, occasionally sounding like THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA or KISS circa 1978-1980.
Funnily enough, at places Mr Lordi vocals sound like Peter Criss…

LORDI – Scare Force One (2014)

* Who would you expect to meet if you were up in the cold far north above the Arctic Circle? Santa Claus? Well maybe. Rovaniemi in Finnish Lapland is one such place and there you are far more likely to encounter a monster or two, rock ‘n’ roll monsters that is, as the chilly location is the home stomping grounds...
