STEVE HOWE – Anthology [2CD remastered] (2015)

STEVE HOWE - Anthology [2CD remastered] (2015) full

Get ready to say ‘Yes’ to a new retrospective from progressive rock legend STEVE HOWE. The English guitarist has curated a new double CD, 33-track retrospective, simply titled “Anthology“, released via Rhino Records.
The 2-CD only set – not available as digital download – is primarily drawn from the studio albums he’s recorded between 1975 and 2011.

Steve Howe played an integral role in shaping the sound of Yes and Asia, two of the world’s most beloved and successful progressive rock bands. The gifted guitarist has also enjoyed a long and prolific career as a solo artist with more than a dozen studio albums to his credit.
“Anthology” maps Howe’s musical journey across 36 years, 16 albums and countless genres, providing an enlightening showcase for his six-string prowess on songs like “Pennants”, “The Collector”, “Maiden Voyage” – one of many featuring his son Dylan on drums – and “King’s Ransom” from his 2011 album Time.

While culled primarily from Howe’s solo albums, “Anthology” goes back as far as 1967 with the psychedelic “So Bad”, and also includes tracks from a pair of compilation albums.
“Sharp On Attack” has been pulled from 1988’s Guitar Speak, a now-out-of-print release which found Howe contributing a track alongside other hard-rocking guitar greats like Rick Derringer, Phil Manzanera, Leslie West and Ronnie Montrose.
And the flamenco-flavored “Mood For A Day”, one of Howe’s signature songs with Yes, has been taken from 1993’s Symphonic Music of Yes, with Howe playing alongside The English Chamber Orchestra.

Nicely packaged (love the Roger Dean cover art), “Anthology” is a must have for any Steve Howe, YES, ASIA or Steve Howe Trio fans, and progressive rock afficionados en general.
The compilation delivers a real diversity of prog styles, covering the voluminous amount of work by the guitar master. Many songs included here are impossible to find, and for the most part have been remastered 2015.
Steve Howe will head on the road beginning April 1 for his “Anthology” tour. U.K. dates have already been set, with additional performances expected to be confirmed soon.
In the meantime, fans can gear up for that tour with “Anthology”.
