TREVOR RABIN – Oklahoma EP (2023) *HQ* Exclusive

Exquisite musician TREVOR RABIN is generally regarded as the man who saved Yes. He crafted four stellar Yes studio albums over twelve years, and performed on copious tours with Yes and the off-shoot Yes iteration Anderson Rabin Wakeman (ARW). Rabin became a shining light in Progressive Rock over that time.
Just imagine, if you will, a once-isolated South African boy from the tip of the Dark Continent saving the career (and perhaps even the genre) of the huge international Prog band that he grew up loving. Moreover, Rabin wrote Yes’ biggest hit ever in ‘Owner of a Lonely Heart’ and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017.
But even Rabin’s massive contribution to Yes should not overshadow his solo work. Now 2023, after many years, Rabin will release next a new album in a ‘song format’, with vocals, fully elaborated, titled ”Rio”.
Today, as advance, Trevor Rabin is presenting the EP ”Oklahoma”, including 3 tracks from the upcoming album. If you love his work on Yes’ 90125 and Big Generator, then…

YES – The Quest (2021) HQ

Prog legend YES have revealed plans to release their 22nd studio album, ”The Quest”, on October 1st, their first collection of original songs since 2014’s Heaven And Earth.
“Much of the music was written in late 2019 with the rest in 2020. We commissioned several orchestrations to augment and enhance the overall sound of these fresh new recordings, hoping that our emphasis on melody, coupled with some expansive instrumental solo breaks, keeps up the momentum for our listeners.” said Steve Howe.
Featuring 11 tracks total – eight on the main CD and three bonus cuts on a second CD – ”The Quest” cover art was created by artist Roger Dean, whose tenure with Yes dates back to the Seventies and classic albums like Fragile and Tales From Topographic Oceans…

GTR – GTR [2-CD Deluxe Expanded Remastered Edition including ‘Roudabout’ Live set]

Esoteric Recordings / Cherry Red Records finally did it: the official release of a 2xCD Deluxe Expanded Remastered Edition of “GTR“, the self-titled 1986 album by Steve Hackett and Steve Howe’s band GTR.
Apart from the much needed remastering, there are also 3 bonus tracks taken from promotional 12-inch singles of ‘When the Heart Rules the Mind’ & ‘The Hunter’ (two of which appear on CD for the first time), plus a bonus CD featuring a terrific GTR live show recorded in Los Angeles in July 1986.

JON ANDERSON – Song Of Seven [Remastered & Expanded Digipak] (2020)

Esoteric Recordings are releasing a freshly remastered 2020 Expanded Digipak version of “Song Of Seven“, the second solo album by JON ANDERSON, a fine job done from the original Atlantic Records master tapes and is expanded to include 2 rare US single edits previously unreleased on CD.
“Song Of Seven” was recorded during Jon’s first hiatus from YES, with whom he had become an internationally known vocalist and songwriter and followed on from his 1976 first solo album. Working with keyboard player Ronnie Leahy, Anderson created an optimistic album of varying influences and he gathered together a fine ensemble of musicians to assist him such as celebrated bass players JACK BRUCE and JOHN GIBLIN, guitarists CLEM CLEMPSON and IAN BAIRNSON, saxophonist JOHNNY DANKWORTH and drummers MORRIS PERT and SIMON PHILLIPS.
I always liked this album – fans of Camel or Alan Parsons need to check out this, same early 80s pristine sound design & production, even more clear now with this remaster.
Highly Recommended

YES – The Royal Affair Tour (Live from Las Vegas) (2020)

Recorded during the YES headline North American tour in the summer of 2019, “The Royal Affair Tour” was a must-see best-of-British-rock show and featured support by ASIA.
The YES performing line up was Steve Howe (guitar), Alan White (drums), Geoff Downes (keyboards), Jon Davison (vocals since 2011) and Billy Sherwood (guitar/keyboards), the late Chris Squire’s choice to take over bass/vocals in 2015).
YES performed songs from their storied career, one of rock music’s most prized bodies of work, and their set was in honor of the memory of YES’ members Chris Squire and Peter Banks.
”The Royal Affair Tour, Live From Las Vegas” is a strong showing from one of prog rock’s creators and gives us all the happy news that YES is nowhere near done defining greatness.
