DEMON'S EYE (feat. Doogie White) - Under The Neon (2015) full

After their warmly received first album (featured here on the blog) and touring with the likes of Michael Schenker’s Temple of Rock, DEMON’S EYE has become one of the most successful acts reviving the classic hard rock sounds made popular by Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow, UFO, Whitesnake, etc.
Again with talented Doogie White on lead vocals, Demon’s Eye are releasing their new effort “Under The Neon” tomorrow September 18.

It’s great that Demon’s Eye has managed to get Doogie White again interested to co-write the new songs and perform the lead vocals in “Under The Neon”.
I’m always perplexed where he gets the time, creativity to come up in a very short time with these songs. He is for me the best hard rock singers from the last two decades. With ease Doogie jumps over from Temple of Rock, La Paz, Tank or solo to Demon’s Eye.
He proved this already at Rainbow through the songs of Ronnie James Dio, to Graham Bonnet and Joe Lynn Turner singing them all with the same passion.

Also for “Under The Neon” excellent keyboardist Florian Pritsch had stepped back in consultation with the band and was replaced by Gert-Jan Naus. Now I’m personally a big fan of Florian’s style so I regret that he is no longer part of this great band. I must say, after hearing “Under The Neon”, Gert-Jan is a worthy successor that fits great in Demon’s Eye.

The structure of the album has been carefully chosen by an intro punctuated by rapid, easy-listening hard rock songs to ballads. The recording shows an even more unique sound of the band, where the influence of Deep Purple and Rainbow have certainly not disappeared but with more than a personal touch.
I would do injustice to it if this were merely the input of Doogie White. Of course with the vocals and lyrics Doogie is an absolute delight to the ear, however the rest of the guys have the ‘classic rock mojo’ as well.
Among the highlights I have to mention the rocking ‘Road To Glory’, the bluesy ‘Finest Moment’, ‘Blood Red Sky’, the groovy ‘Five Knuckle Shuffle’, or the terrific ballad ‘Closer To Heaven’ with some Whitesnake on it.

DEMON'S EYE (feat. Doogie White) - Under The Neon (2015) back

Demon’s Eye deserves a big compliment for “Under The Neon” that has come out above expectations.
This album new sounds much more varied than the previous effort and shows the band has clearly grown musically. Demon’s Eye exudes a mature sound that has Doogie White alongside four other seasoned musicians in the house.
For the real Rainbow, Whitesnake, Joe Lynn Turner and Deep Purple fans surely it should be a great experience to hear and see this band. After our hero Blackmore went into another direction and Jon no longer is among us, Demon’s Eye fills this void greatly.
Demon’s Eye truly deserves a great deal of interest and perhaps do get invited now for major festivals, meanwhile catch them on their European tour since October and enjoy this really good CD of classic hard rock.
None make albums like this anymore: Highly Recommended.
