EASY TRIGGER – Ways Of Perseverance (2016)

Three years ago we received the debut CD by Italians EASY TRIGGER, an interesting band but a disparate album so it was not featured here. Now 2016 they are back with 2nd effort “Ways Of Perseverance” and things have changed for good.
Several line-up modifications (including going through two different vocalists) benefited Easy Trigger, and they are a more focused unit now.

Easy Trigger style is strongly influenced by ’80s American Hard Rock but their sound is pretty updated. Think modern day Skid Row, some less polished Hardcore Superstar and a pinch of early Motley Crue and you got it.
The guitar riffs are sharp, at places metallic and the solos strong, with an old-school feel. New vocalist Nico sings clean but also a bit raw providing the necessary grip in the Sebastian Bach fashion yet not so over the top.

One of the things that makes this album highly listenable is the track length: almost all are around the 3 minute mark resulting effective, to the point, not boring.
Among the best we have the Skid Row-like ‘My Darkness’ (kick-ass song), the groovy ‘The Watchmaker’, ‘God Is Dead’ (some very early Guns N’ Roses here), the bluesy midtempo ‘Turn To Stone’, and the pretty catchy ‘One Way Out’.
I also dig the energetic ‘Sold Out’, one of the heavier tracks, and the fun ‘Land Of Light’ with some Hanoi Rocks feel switched to Warrior Soul modern sound.

I think ‘Ways Of Perseverance’ is a proper title for Easy Trigger’s second effort, as the band has passed through many troubles to get a stable line-up and reach the goal of a new album.
They have moved forward, song-wise and musically, and all songs here are strong, to-the-point hard rockers.
Solid, entertaining stuff.
