HERE

Hailing from UK (Nottingham), NASTY HIGH is a 4-piece hard rock act who are presenting their debut CD “Liquid Scream“, recorded & produced by themselves but with a pretty good quality standard, with clear ’80s influences from their image to the melodious, catchy nature of their music.

Although based in Great Britain, Nasty High is a true international group featuring members from Poland, Spain, England and a singer with a Japanese origin, all with an obvious love for the classic (melodic) hard rock sounds.
They mention as inspiration the likes of Def Leppard, Winger, Mr. Big or Kiss, but their style & sound is timeless, amalgamated with an European and, essentially, American feeling.

Formed by two guitarists from Poland who had a dream of being in a British metal band, JB Haze and previous member Kitty Coke hitch-hiked to England with just their guitars on their backs.
There they eventually hooked up with English / Japanese singer & guitarist Daniel Barrow-Bentley. UK based Polish drummer Mazzy Speed was recruited to provide the beats and for a while the line up was complete.
When Kitty Coke left the band for personal reasons, Spanish guitar maestro Marcos Rodriguez Alvarez was added to take over lead guitar duties.

NASTY HIGH - Liquid Scream (2017) inside

After several years of intense gigs, having shared stages with the likes of Eclipse, Bulletboys, Enuff Z’Nuff, Skid Row, and the recording of some demos / singles, Nasty High was ready for their full length debut album.
Nasty High’s sound on “Liquid Scream” is anything but ‘nasty’; they are very melodic, sharp and energetic, but clean and quite polished.

After the short into ‘Liquid Scream’, the group kicks in with ‘Can’t Get Enough’, a guitar driven tune with some Keel on it and Barrow-Bentley’s potent vocals.
The punchy ‘Here We Are’ reminds me of Crown Of Thorns (Jean Beavouir band), ‘Ride On’ turn things more groovy in a Lynch Mob style, then you have a catchy chorus in ‘Burning Up’ plus a stupendous guitar solo inspired by George Lynch. A highlight.

The jumping ‘Rocket Lady’ has a bit of Cold Sweat in its rhythm, ‘Hot Shot’ adds a touch of American sleazy, you get a some hair metal on ‘No More Waiting To Rock’, then ‘Rock ‘N’ Roll Highway’ is a on-the-road rocker, while ‘King’ provides another slice of groove and a steady rhythm section.

NASTY HIGH - Liquid Scream (2017) disc

Nasty High is a very promising band from UK mixing influences from the classic hard rock sounds from both sides of the Atlantic Ocean with a strong ’80s feeling, both in style and production.
A bigger budget and an expertise producer helping with the arrangements can do miracles with this band, anyway, they have managed to deliver a punchy, energetic and quite polished debut album.
