VALENSIA – 7eve7 [Japan Edition +1] (2019)
Uber talented Dutch VALENSIA is back with a new album titled “7eve7”, already released in Japan and to appear in Europe soon. If you are reading this blog, you already know Valensia with some of his best albums featured HERE.
Musically he combines the influence of 1970’s Queen, Kate Bush, The Beatles and 1980’s rock&pop music. All of these meld within Valensia’s lushly produced and cleverly arranged compositions.
“7eve7” is not an exception, and perhaps one of Valensia’s most complete album to date.
All over the record, the Queen / Freddie Mercury influences are displayed loud and proud, but ultimately the musical vision is uniquely Valensia’s.
“7eve7” was composed, arranged, performed, engineered & recorded by Valensia at his own studio. He did all the vocals – lots of multi-part harmonies as well – and play most the instruments.
His brother David Clarkson is the producer, and performs all the drums on the record.
You can’t resist to the melodic nature of ‘Babamouche’ or ‘The Shenanigans’, with that typical Valensia trademark rock & pop flavor and Queen-like harmonies / chorus arrangements.
‘Iberia (The Summer Of Love)’ is even more poppy with an ’80s new wave feel, while the AORish ‘Ethereal’ brings to mind Robby Valentine Nineties works.
Valensia is also working on a mini-movie / short titled ‘Levine’, of course filmed by himself, and here we can hear a couple of tracks from the score (both under 1 minute long) mostly showcasing Valensia’s at the piano.
If you love Valensia / Robby Valentine works, “7eve7” is a pure delight to your ears. Of course Queen, Jono, etc fans need to check this album as well.
A perfectly composed, executed and produced record.
Highly Recommended
