In 2017, original members of ’80s hard rocker HEAVY PETTIN’, Hamie, Punky, and Gordon joined by Jez Parry on bass and Michael Ivory on drums performed for the first time in 25 years at Scotland’s Winter Storm. Reinvigorated, Heavy Pettin’, now joined by ex-Gun guitarist Dave Aitken due to Punky hanging up his guitar and going into retirement, did several shows in 2018 including a 6 date UK tour, with 3 sold-out gigs in Nottingham, London and Edinburgh, as well as 2 sold-out headline gigs in Milton Keynes and Glasgow.
The 2019 Heavy Pettin’ assault started in North Wales with HRH AOR Festival, then off to Germany’s Headbangers Open Air Festival in July, and Aug/Sept tour including The Golden Age of Rock Festival Belgium, with Dee Snider and Angel, plus a mainland British tour with RockGoddess.
It was time for new music, and in 2019 HEAVY PETTIN’ entered the studio to create the first batch of new songs recorded in over 30 years. The result is the EP ”4 Play”, only 4 songs. But what a killer songs.
These are among the best songs HEAVY PETTIN’ have wrote, and not only the band feels on all cylinders here, production is top notch.

‘Get Back to You’ instantly reminds you just why you loved HEAVY PETTIN’ in the first place, a hook filled delight graced by Stephen (Hamie) Hayman’s distinctive vocals and along with ‘Tell Me Why’ you can’t help but marvel at their uncanny knack of writing great commercial AOR that rocks hard.
‘Who We Are’ is insistent, unstoppable and full of diamond cutting guitar work, crushing drums, throbbing bass and utterly committed vocals, a declaration of intent.

The EP closes with the lighter waving power ballad ‘Hard to Hold’ and it ticks all the boxes you could hope for, with a particularly fine solo from Gun guitar slinger Dave Davo Aitken adding the cherry on the cake.
A much anticipated and welcome return for the Scottish giant killers.
