MARCHELLO – Destiny +5 [Limited Deluxe Edition remastered] (2024) HQ *EXCLUSIVE*

Yes, it is happening: the cult classic 1989 “Destiny” debut album by MARCHELLO from New York, US, is finally being reissued on CD for the first time, including lots of unreleased bonus tracks.
A brilliant mixture of AOR, Hard Rock and guitar shredding Melodic Metal featuring the virtuoso guitarist and singer Gene Marchello, the album is a killer from start to finish. Released for the first time back in 1989 only in USA and Japan this little masterpiece for the genre was screaming for a CD reissue. Highly demanded by fans and collectors worldwide not just because of its out-of-print status but because it is one of the top Melodic Hard Rock albums from the ’80s.
This Arkeyn Steel Records edition features completely remastered audio plus bonus tracks from the “Marchello Happy Camper Summer Sampler” promo disc that was sent to media back in the time of the original release. A limited 500 copies / numbered release with superb sound quality.
The 500 hand-numbered copies sold-out in a minute, so the label ordered a second and Final Edition limited to 500 CDs again…

MOONPARK – Good Spirit (2024) *HQ*

The Czech Republic is not exactly blessed with many AOR / melodic rock bands. Alongside their colleagues from Black Tiger, MOONPARK are now setting out to conquer the international scene with their debut “Good Spirit“. They offer keyboard-heavy melodic hard, as it was performed in the late 80s and early 90s by bands such as Frontline, Railway or Shylock.
All songs with English lyrics were recorded by American producer Derek Saxenmeyer (a Chris Lord-Alge alumni) and mastered by Tim Debney of Fluid Mastering, a London studio which has worked with bands such as Deep Purple, Judas Priest and Mötorhead. MOONPARK already toured central Europe and England.
The obvious influences are American AOR bands – opener ‘Dancing in a Lie’ begins like a Survivor classic, with carefully placed power chords against a repetitive keyboard rhythm. Then it launches into the quintessential components of the genre: a simple but strong riff, a good melodic line and a decent guitar solo.
‘Blinding Fire’ continues in much the same vein, with the addition of effective piano touches to underpin it. It’s all mildly sharp but rooted so carefully in melody – what I mean by ‘sharp’ is Separate Ways rather than Don’t Stop Believin’…

SHEELA – Burned Down ’95 [Lions Pride Music remixed / remastered] (2024) *HQ*

Last year, melodic hard rockers SHEELA signed a deal with Lions Pride Music, the genre’s specialized record label based in Denmark. This collaboration brought forth a reissue of their debut 1995’s album “Burned Down,” remixed, remastered, and adorned with a new artwork.
Many years out of print, this worldwide release on CD brings back the timeless sound of SHEELA’s debut record to a global audience while the band works for an upcoming new album. And we say ‘timeless’ because despite originally released in 1995, the band didn’t care about the rock trends at the time and recorded this classic bluesy hard rock album with a melodic edge and big choruses, musically in the vein of Hardline, Warrant, Damn Yankees, Talisman, etc.
Despite hailing from Germany, SHEELA style is pure American melodic hard rock with a 1990-1992 sound, a powerful singer pretty Coverdale-ish and a stupendous lead guitarist similar to the great Kee Marcello. Production is very good, clean, sharp, and this remix / remaster makes “Burned Down” sounding fresh – and pretty awesome if you ask me…

MOTLEY CRUE – Live At The Orpheum Theatre, Boston, 1984 [Alive The Live Japan release only] HQ *Exclusive*

Some of you asked for MOTLEY CRUE live stuff from the era when they exploded into the scene, for many, their finest moment. Here’s this excellent release from Japanese specialized label ‘Alive The Live‘, Crue’s concert captured Live At The Orpheum Theatre, Boston, April 4th 1984, during their ‘Shout At The Devil Tour’ US tour.
The set was recorded for the popular American radio program ‘King Biscuit Flower Hour’, and since no official live album from this period has been released, it’s a moving experience for fans.
MOTLEY CRUE was on the verge of stardom here, raw, heavy, with attitude, hungry for more. Sound quality is very good – no overdubs, in your face.

GRIM REAPER – Fear No Evil [Japan SHM-CD remastered] (2022) HQ *Exclusive*

To complete the trilogy of GRIM REAPER ’80s albums reissued / remastered in Japan and pressed on SHM-CD, here’s 1985’s “Fear No Evil“. The record picked up exactly where Grim Reaper’s well-received debut See You in Hell had left off, with the band delivering another strong set of vigorous, blue-collar British heavy metal.
As was to be expected, ”Fear No Evil” reprises its predecessor’s crunchy riffs while injecting singles candidates like the title track and “Never Coming Back” with a mid-Eighties sonic refinement and increased sense of melody. Other songs, such as “Let the Thunder Roar,” “Fight for the Last,” and “Final Scream” alternate the requisite demonically inspired lyrics with Judas Priest’s patented “let’s go rock out” approach.
Over the years there has been poor sounding reissues, and “Fear No Evil” deserved this clear, punchy remaster on SHM-CD pressing…

FUNHOUSE – Welcome To The Funhouse 1989-1990 [FnA remaster] Rare

As requested, here’s the now hard to find FnA Records remastered release of American female-fronted melodic hard rockers FUNHOUSE 1989/1990’s recordings under the title ”Welcome To The Funhouse”.
Funhouse began when virtuoso guitarist Mike Stanley, and Berkley College of Music Alumni, Jimmy “Bushman” Adams of Philadelphia (well respected area drummer from many bands such as Kashmir, Silencer and The Flow) joined forces in 1987. They started the band adding charismatic female vocalist Sindi Raymond from the band Silencer, and studio session bass player Matt Harrigan.
Their debut album 1989’s ‘Hazardous To Your Health’ generated controversy for its explicit lyrics, got banned at many States, and sported a big ‘Parental Advisory’ sticker on the cover. Anyway, what matter is the music, and this is well written and executed US Melodic Hard with Sindi’s powerful, distinctive voice.
This FnA release “Welcome To The Funhouse” compiles the 1989 plus unreleased 1990 recordings (professionally done). Compared to the original late Eighties release, the remaster has done miracles as the songs now sound vital, clearer….

ERIK WINGER – You Can Have All You Want (2024) *HQ*

ERIK WINGER is a singer / songwriter / guitarist from Western PA. For the past 22 years, he’s called Orlando, FL his home. Erik describes his sound as melodic rock / AOR / rock-pop with a strong sense of melody and harmony. Heavily influenced by artists such as KISS, Journey, Van Halen, Billy Joel, and more recently, John Mayer – Erik has etched out his own sound with a nod to the greats that inspired him.
On his new album titled “You Can Have All You Want” you can hear all these influences and we’ll add some 90s Westcoast AOR as well. And no, ERIK WINGER isn’t related to Kip Winger, but they have a similar taste on crafting fine melodies.
Certainly there’s some Journey on the title track and the AORish ‘G.F.Y. (Good for You)’, a bit of ’80s Rick Springfield on the joyful ‘Untamed Heart’, a Mitch Malloy feel with ‘Bones’, then if smooth midtempo Westcoast is your thing, ‘Reina’ and ‘It’s Never Too Late’ are simply delicious. For classy ’80s-style midpaced AOR, ‘The Long Goodbye’ is a little gem…

MOTLEY CRUE – Dogs Of War (2024) *HQ*

MÖTLEY CRÜE has released fresh new music: the single “Dogs Of War“. The track was made available on a vinyl picture disc via MÖTLEY CRÜE’s new deal with Nashville’s Big Machine Records. “It’s always great getting back in the studio with the guys in the band,” CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx says. “We know you’re gonna like this one.”
Bob Rock, who produced the new single, as well as MÖTLEY CRÜE’s famed 1989 album “Dr. Feelgood”, adds: “Working with the band on the new song was the easiest session I have ever had with them… The CRÜE is the best they have ever been! And they have plenty of new stuff in store.”
“There’ll definitely be new music out next year, for sure,” singer Vince Neil said, “’cause we recorded other songs, too. Maybe we’ll release one of those by the end of the year, but I can’t say. But we want to keep putting out new music.”
Neil described “Dogs Of War” as “like old school meets new school. It’s got that old-school vibe about it, but it’s new music.”. To our ears, it’s a strong song, but definitely modern. If you give “Dogs Of War” to Ozzy Osbourne, it would perfectly fit his current sound…

MOTLEY CRUE – Dr. Feelgood [Remastered Ltd SHM-CD / 2xDisc MiniLP] *HQ*

MOTLEY CRUE very much defined the ’80s. Californian hard rock glammy style. And one reader requested some of their most celebrated records in a remastered form pressed on High Quality Japanese SHM-CD, this special edition including a bonus disc of rarities, not easy to find songs.
“Dr. Feelgood” is Mötley Crüe’s more ‘glossy’ record ever, overproduced to some people’s judgement. Not for me, I am a sucker for this kind of ‘bombastic’, huge Eighties sound. It was 1989, and this year says a lot.
Five albums into their career, Mötley Crüe were unapologetically obsessed with crafting the kind of sticky, sleazy hard rock that defined MTV hair metal and hooked the masses like steaming bowls of salty buttered popcorn.
“Dr. Feelgood”, which came out Sept. 1, 1989, was basically the Crüe’s take on mega-polished late ’80s Aerosmith-style stadium rock, a sound to become a staple for the genre in the 89-91 period like in Damn Yankees’ debut for example…

BILLY IDOL – Rebel Yell [40th Anniversary 2-CD remastered Expanded Edition 2024] *HQ*

BILLY IDOL second studio album, 1983’s smash hit ‘Rebel Yell‘, is being reissued for its 40th Anniversary in a 2024 Expanded Edition. The album features the singles ‘Eyes Without a Face’, ‘Flesh for Fantasy’, ‘Catch My Fall’ and ‘Rebel Yell’.
There are two physical editions of this reissue, a 2-CD set and a 2LP vinyl version. The former features 13 bonus tracks, including the rather good ‘Poolside Remix’ of Eyes Without A Face, the previously unreleased ‘Best Way Out of Here’ and a cover of ‘Love Don’t Live Hear Anymore’ (both from the original sessions). Of the latter, Billy said “We found out Madonna was doing a version on her Like A Virgin album and we had a full compliment songs so we thought we’d leave it off the album”.
‘Rebel Yell’ is a pure ’80s album, from songwriting to production, and never sounded better. And the bonus tracks are really enjoyable, especially the unreleased material. ‘Love Don’t Live Here Anymore’ is the gem of the set, a prime example of the magic Idol and guitarist Steve Stevens could create…

SLEAZY TOWN – Unfinished Business (2024)

While hailing from Europe, SLEAZY TOWN makes justice to its name as this four piece formed in 2011 are musically influenced by the American form of sleazy hard rock, southern rock, and even some ’80s Californian glam metal.
The band released a couple of EP’s, but now are showcasing their music on not one but two full length albums in the digipak double disc “Unfinished Business“. Skillfully mixing power, groove and melody, along their long life influences, Sleazy Town deliver a hard tinged sleazy hard rock sound that is all their own.
From furious riffs to catchy melodies, Sleazy Town digs into the whirring guitars and draws out a resolutely rock’n’roll bass, all hammered by totally supercharged drums. With a clean, polished production, we’re taken to the the Mojave Desert on ”Machine Gun Rodeo”, we spend the night with a “Downtown Queen”, we search for the Lord and his “Mystic Religion”, to end up in the streets on the LA Strip “Living Like A Hobo”…

DEF LEPPARD – Pyromania 40 (Super Deluxe Edition 4CD) [2024] *HQ*

The album’s sound is excellent, and the unreleased material a must for fans and collectors…

H.E.A.T – H.E.A.T (2023 New Mix) (2024) *HQ*

After their 2022 tour conclusion, Swedes H.E.A.T revisited their first two studio albums, “Heat” and “Freedom Rock”, raising the excitement and nostalgia for H.E.A.T.’s roots. Fully remixed by the band in 2023, both albums were released for the very first time on vinyl, on CD, and now digitally.
“This remix of our first album is intended to bring you closer to the original vision we had in 2007” said the band. And indeed with this remix the album now sounds significantly different, yet keeps the integrity of the original intact.
H.E.A.T (2023 New Mix)” it’s way more dynamic, they brought out the light and shade of the songs, giving the quieter parts the clarity and space, so when the layers kick in, pre/chorus / choruses… it really is way more of a impact. It’s both more stripped in places, in others they have brought up things/layers buried in the mix or mixed out altogether first time around.
Some different intro’s, arrangements, the tweaked drum sound makes a massive difference, and again… things originally mixed out offer a new listening experience…

H.E.A.T – Freedom Rock (2023 New Mix) (2024) *HQ*

After their 2022 tour conclusion, Swedes H.E.A.T revisited their first two studio albums, “Heat” and “Freedom Rock”, raising the excitement and nostalgia for H.E.A.T.’s roots. Fully remixed by the band in 2023, both albums were released for the very first time on vinyl, on CD, and now digitally.
Freedom Rock (2023 New Mix)” it’s way more dynamic, the band brought out the light and shade of the songs, giving the quieter parts the clarity and space, so when the layers kick in, pre/chorus / choruses… it really is way more of a impact.
Some different intro’s, sharper guitars, clearer vocals and the tweaked drum sound makes a massive difference for a new listening experience.
“Freedom Rock (2023 New Mix)” is powerful, punchy, energetic and whilst polished has a live-like feel.
This is the way forward with re-issues. We have the originals. We have the remaster(s). This release shows you can remix a classic album and not destroy it…
