WHITESNAKE – 1987 [30th Anniversary Edition 2017 remaster] *HQ*
And here’s WHITESNAKE “1987 (30th Anniversary Remaster 2017)”. This is the standalone release including the original album 2017 remastered, as requested by many, to compare with the SHM-CD / early remaster featured here yesterday.
As fans will known the track listings were different in the America and the UK for the original release, with the European edition featuring 2 additional tracks. This reissue 2017 track listing adhere’s to neither.
“1987 (30th Anniversary Remaster 2017)” features the 11 tracks but with re-arranged sequence. The album seems to flow a little better the way it is presented here, especially when utilizing “Still of the Night” as the opening track. This has always been one of their best songs.
After the first listen, we must say this 2017 remaster impressed us. I always had an issue with the album’s drum sound – nothing relevant, but a bit muddy to my ears – and now the snare and cymbals sound fantastic. Additionally, the bass tracks are superb now. Just check the atmospheric, second half of ‘Give Me All Your Love’… awesome clear-cut bass sound. Finally, the mastering is near perfect.
“1987 (30th Anniversary Remaster 2017)”… worth the investment? Definitely YES, because the SHM-CD is out of print, and this 30th Anniversary reissue is excellent as well.

Tribute: To one of the best hard rock albums ever…
To start by the conclusion…: If you’re a fan… grab all versions you can get
However…
If you want to stay close to the original album, this version is probably the best you can get, while it’s best defined (I think that the vocals are just a bit more present than on other versions though, but just as said, at least the instrumental part is less blury). But… if you want the most powerful one (not only volume wise)… choose the remastered version done by Axe Killer (Bad Reputation, Remastered 2000). The SHM-CD version is excellent as well, but just not complete enough
If you’re only looking for the best sound (and don’t care too much about the original sound) you can listen to it on: The Blues Album , The Rock Album, The Love Album or The Greatest Hits Album (the latest)
