Melodic Rockers STEELOVER formed in the early 80s by three friends living in Liege, Belgium; guitarists Pat Freson & Mel Presti and the bassist Nick Gardi. In search of a drummer, they threw their sights on Rudy Lenners upon his return from Germany, having left the famous German band Scorpions. Rudy proposed to contact Vince Cardillo, an experienced singer who had already recorded an album in London, it will fit perfectly explained Rudy.
The band recorded the LP ‘Glove Me’ in the mid-Eighties which sold 400.000 copies leading a tour across all over Europe including Forest National opening for Bon Jovi and KISS. After that STEELOVER disbanded but made sporadic reunions and recorded a domestic EP in 2017.

Since October 2020, Vince, Pat & Nick decided to continue the STEELOVER adventure and started to look for another drummer and another guitarist. After a few weeks of auditions, Calin (guitars) and Nikko (drums) joined the Steelover family. The newcomers are bringing a modern and more powerful touch to both old and new songs.
To be released by Escape Music, their new album “Stainless” delivers an enjoyable slice of classic melodic hard rock with an Euro feel, 12 catchy tunes with a bright slick updated production sound.

While production – especially the guitar sound – is modern according to 2022 standards for the genre, on “Stainless” we have ’80s-style songwriting melodic hard rock with that classic European feeling from the era; think 220 VOLT, PRETTY MAIDS, PICTURE, some SCORPIONS, etc.

For “Stainless”, STEELOVER re-recorded six tracks from their 1984 LP, however completely re-arranged, with newly written parts and solos. As example, one of my favorite songs, ”Give It Up”, originally was 2:54 minutes, the new version; 3:56. But you you know, a good song is always a good song, and the new version rocks.
The half of the new album consists of 6 new tracks: ”Dealer”, ”Remember”, ”Lady of Rock”, ”Want your Love”, ”Don’t know Why”, ”Get Out”, all sharp melodic rockers, with ”Remember” adding a mid-80s AOR smoothness.

“Stainless” offers fifty minutes of classic Euro Eighties melodic hard rock, that hard ‘n’ heavy sound dominated by melodic riffs and clean vocals. A very enjoyable set of songs from star to finish. STEELOVER’s comeback with a new full album took 38 years… don’t make us wait so long for the next one!
