EVEREST – One Step Away [Long Island Records remastered] out of print *HQ*

As requested, here’s a little gem from the awesome ’80s Canadian AOR factory.
EVEREST were a Canadian melodic rock band from Toronto that released this self-titled album on Epic in 1984. The band recorded a second album next year mixed by Rush’s Alex Lifeson but never released until a decade after by awesome Long Island Records – an oasis for melodic rock / AOR fans during the Nineties.
Titled ”One Step Away”, this second effort was again produced by Paul Gross who took on the same role for the first three Saga albums. Everest was richly progressive with lush Hi-Tech keyboard arrangements in a melodic rock style, this time with a more mid-’80s AOR feel.

Here the guys did a really fine cover of TOTO’s song ‘How Does It Feel’, and we find a different vocalist on ‘Runnin’ On’ where the band was looking for a purer AOR sound… a LP listing a song titled ‘Runnin’ On’ can’t be bad!
EVEREST won the 1986 Q107 Homegrown contest wherein top prize was studio time at Metalworks and a single on MCA Canada, but unfortunately they disbanded soon after.
