The Life & Crimes of Sara S., Pt. 1” is the new recording from SARA SUCKS, a 4-piece band from Munich, Germany. They have been together since 2007, and you can tell that because they sound pretty tight and complement their skills with ease.

Sara Sucks released a full length album four years ago, but as many indie bands they struggle to get their material published. So the guys decided to go for EP’s, being “The Life & Crimes of Sara S., Pt. 1” the first of a 3-part of a series to be completed during this year.
I’ve only listened some samples from the band’s first album, quite ’80s American Hard / Glam influenced stuff.
But this “The Life & Crimes of Sara S., Pt. 1” it’s much more melodic, with a sound akin Poison, Signal, Mariah, etc.
And I like what I hear.

Opener “Alright” is a radio-ready midtempo with driving acoustic guitars (including an electric solo) that could have been a hit in 1989. The lead vocals are served in an extremely melodic layer, helped by a 3-part vocal harmony by three members of the band.
Then we have the kicking rocker “Free Kick Party” with sharp guitars, nice gang choruses and sharp riffs, same with the harder “All Or Nothing”, some kind of a hair metal anthem in the Helix mold.

“Where Is The Love” is the ballad, a sweet acoustic piece very well elaborated with some Tyketto feel, and Sara Sucks also delivers an excellent version of Eurythmics’ “Here Comes The Rain Again”, arranged in a melodic rock flair. Really, really good.

I think specialized Melodic (Hard) Rock labels should take notice about Sara Sucks.
These guys are truly good, compose strong songs and are top-notch performers. All tracks in “The Life & Crimes of Sara S., Pt. 1” are above the standard, and despite the indie managing, production is excellent.
They have a great name too, and believe me, they don’t suck at all. In fact, this is one of the best indies I heard from some time now.
Strongly Recommended.
