Australian rockers AIRBOURNE have never been ones to think small. But on their self-titled, upcoming new studio album “Airbourne“, they’ve outdone themselves in the most personable manner ever: recording their latest disc in at Music Farm Studio in “the jungle” outside Byron Bay.
The complex boasts the original Neve console from Alberts Studios, on which bands like AC/DC, ROSE TATTOO and THE ANGELS recorded their landmark early albums. It’s also home to Malcolm Young’s eight-track Neve, which too was recruited for the sessions. There the four-piece battled venomous snakes, deadly spiders, near cyclonic storms and the foibles of vintage analogue equipment (the band insisted on recording to tape) in their quest to create what vocalist-guitarist Joel O’Keeffe says is “the best record we’ve ever made”.
The album includes a contender for ‘collaboration of the year’: a song co-written with Bryan Adams and legendary producer Mutt. The result? Huge!
Driven by the guitar chops and larger-than-life vocal presentation of helmsman Joel O’Keeffe, on “Airbourne” this heavy-hitting flight crew delivers the full-on classic rock experience in all its raucous glory. One can’t help but hear the influence of Australia’s originals AC/DC at nearly every point between the takeoff and landing, only with the lead guitar high-jinks of Angus Young and the vocal chops of both Bon Scott and Brian Johnson occurring in one person.
But to be fair, there is a lot more going on alongside the heartfelt nods to Highway To Hell, Back In Black and The Razor’s Edge here…

As advance, AIRBOURNE is releasing the 5-track EP “Gutsy“. “Gutsy” is a gargantuan rocker from… the guts indeed. But the pearl is “Here She Comes” which sounds like a contender for collaboration of the year: co-written with Bryan Adams and legendary producer Mutt Lange, the track comes with the kind of names that have not exactly wandered into music history by accident. The result? Huge!

The first two seasons of Cobra Kai not only follows the events of The Karate Kid movies, but keeps with their spirit musically – the soundtrack is full of ’80s jams. It’s hard to think of music from The Karate Kid without thinking of the classic theme song from the original, “You’re The Best” by Joe Esposito.
But, damn it, Cobra Kai is here, and through two seasons has managed to have a badass soundtrack full of ’80s bangers, and somehow hasn’t played that old theme song even once.
The series features ’80s classic from Journey, Queen, Foreigner, Poison, etc, but also contemporary bands like AIRBOURNE, which play, of course, ’80s-inspired hard rock.
Several AIRBOURNE songs are featured into the Cobra Kai episodes, trailers, promotion, etc, so the band and their American management put out this some kind of a soundtrack titled ”Back In The Game”, funnily sub-titled ‘The Un-Limited Release‘
