THE PROG COLLECTIVE (Joe Lynn Turner, Geoff Tate, Graham Bonnet) – Worlds On Hold (2020)

Spearheaded by much heralded producer/musician Billy Sherwood super group THE PROG COLLECTIVE returns with a timely and marvellous new studio album, “Worlds On Hold“, featuring a star-studded cast with former Queensrÿche vocalist Geoff Tate, Todd Rundgren, Joe Lynn Turner, Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, Ayreon mastermind Arjen Anthony Lucassen, Derek Sherinian, Graham Bonnet, and so much more.
This is the first release under The Prog Collective moniker since 2013, split between new compositions and driving versions of familiar classics such as Alan Parson’s Project’s “Eye In The Sky”, Peter Gabriel’s “Solsbury Hill,” etc, only available on CD and limited edition vinyl.

THE COMPULSIONS (feat. Bumblefoot) – Dirty Fun (2015)

THE COMPULSIONS, the critically acclaimed New York City rock ‘n’ roll band founded by Rob Carlyle that also featuring GUNS N’ ROSES drummer Frank Ferrer & guitarist Richard Fortus, and former HANOI ROCKS / NEW YORK DOLLS bassist Sami Yaffa, released their 2nd effort “Dirty Fun” five years ago. It has been requested, and certainly it’s a worth to track down album.
While Yaffa and Fortus have departed from the group before this recording, they have been replaced by the equally exciting bassist Alec Morton and upper echelon guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal – and it’s always great to hear “Bumblefoot” rocking n’ kickin’.

THE COMPULSIONS (feat Bumblefoot) – Ferocious (2020)

THE COMPULSIONS features fine musicians with a long pedigree having played / been part of the likes GUNS N’ ROSES to the NEW YORK DOLLS to DAVID BOWIE, and it shows – this is rock ‘n roll at its finest and the album proves Rob Carlyle, leader singer/songwriter, will not be defeated in his mission to deliver roots rock to the masses, despite changes to the line up and a 5 year gap between albums.
”Ferocious” delivers track after track of kick ass, roots original rock which is contagious and fun, with a blend of metal, blues and country rock influences, this album flies on every level. Carlyle’s vocals and lyrics are superb with a real gravelly edge that just transports me to imagining this band playing live, in a real grass roots music venue with the audience lapping up every riff, beat and chorus.

BUMBLEFOOT (Sons Of Apollo) – Barefoot 2 & 3 The Acoustic EP’s (2020) + VOICES OF APOLLO debut *EXCLUSIVE*

As requested, here’s the just released two Ep’s by BUMBLEFOOT, “Barefoot 2 & 3“. Very busy with Sons Of Apollo and other projects, now with the Covid-19 lockdown the guitarist found time to record these songs.
Some time ago Bumblefoot released the first “Barefoot” acoustic ep, a collection of own songs played as stripped-down acoustic versions.
Now for “Barefoot 2 & 3”, Bumblefoot is doing acoustic versions of songs he always loved and wanted to cover, including ‘Wasted Years’ (Iron Maiden), ‘Every Little Thing’ (The Police), ‘Only Time Will Tell (Asia)’. Recorded in April 2020, raw and natural sounding, these are great versions.
But wait, we have more; while in quarantine, Bumblefoot and his Sons Of Apollo bandmates Mike Portnoy and Jeff Scott Soto have recorded a new song few days ago under the moniker VOICES OF APOLLO, a Beatles cover they often sing together on tour.

BUMBLEFOOT (Sons Of Apollo) – Barefoot 1 The Acoustic EP + extras

As requested, here’s Sons Of Apollo / ex Guns N’ Roses Ron BUMBLEFOOT Thal album “Barefoot“, his first collection of acoustic recordings re-interpreting his own songs in a stripped-down bare form.
Released some years ago and now out of print in physical CD, the album features versions of songs from various previous Bumblefoot solo albums performed in an intimate, revealing way unlike they’ve ever been heard before.
As extras there’s alternated versions and mixes, including the song ‘Abnormal’ with non-explicit / clean lyrics, and an unplugged version of ‘Delilah’ recorded in 2003.
Very Good stuff
