TALISMAN (Jeff Scott Soto) – Genesis [Deluxe Edition / extra tracks]

Swedish / American melodic hard rockers TALISMAN still remains as one of my favorites in the genre. All the Talisman catalog has just been reissued by a Swedish label with new artwork, newly remastered audio and previously unreleased material.
Their second album “Genesis” is, in my opinion, the band’s best and Jeff Scott Soto finest recording ever. Talisman incorporated the best elements of ’80s AOR and early ’90s commercial Hard Rock and did so at a time when mainstream musical tastes no longer cared much for this kind of music.
Hearing “Genesis” you have to wonder why this band wasn’t huge. Even in the grunge-drenched years a band this good should have broke through to the masses.

TALISMAN (Jeff Scott Soto) – Humanimal [Deluxe Edition remastered / extra tracks]

Some time ago all the TALISMAN catalog has been reissued by a Swedish label with new artwork, newly remastered audio and previously unreleased material. We already presented most of these on this blog but a couple missing, and two that can’t be absent in your Talisman / Jeff Scott Soto collection.
TALISMAN’s third studio album “Humanimal“, for many, their best.
Finding a hole in his busy schedule, in January 1994 Jeff Scott Soto joined the guys in Sweden and recorded & mixed the new album “Humanimal” at Sound Trade Studios in Stockholm, working together with studio and mixing engineer Ronny Lahti (Europe, Electric Boys).

JEFF SCOTT SOTO – The JSS Queen Concert (the official 2xCD release full show) Out of Print

You keep asking for JEFF SCOTT SOTO music, and this is a really good one not easy to find; The JSS Band show at International Queen Fan Club Convention performing QUEEN classic songs.
Captured at Prestatyn, North Wales, UK, 10th May 2003, on “The JSS Queen Concert : Live At The Queen Convention” Jeff does more than 40(!) Queen songs, and his vocal performance is simply stunning.
You’ll find ALL the greatest Queen songs, from the hits like ‘I Want To Break Free’ or ‘Bohemian Rapshody’, to more inside tracks like ‘Tie Your Mother Down’ or ‘Killer Queen’. Of course, the ‘poppiest’ songs are delivered by the JSS Band with an increased ‘edgy rockin’ approach.
The show & the album was enthusiastically received by Queen fans and Brian May / Roger Taylor (whom at the time enlisted Jeff as the next Queen singer, but finally chose Paul Rodgers because he’s more well known in the UK).
“The JSS Queen Concert : Live At The Queen Convention” is a really good double album, well recorded & mixed, showcasing another – of the many – facets of the chameleonic Jeff Scott Soto where he puts his own stamp of these classic, immortal songs…

This Limited Edition (out of print and hard to find) made by Iconic Productions is in top quality mastering / packaging. While some tracks are present on the ‘B-sides’ album posted at 0dayrox, many others are very rare.
Even a couple are unreleased, exclusive to his ‘Cover 2 Cover’, like ‘Edge Of The Blade’, a cover by Jeff’s band Human Clay recorded for a Brazilian Journey Tribute that due to many problems with the record label this is still an “unreleased album”…

Few vocalists can have a body of work as large as veteran JEFF SCOTT SOTO, with over 60 albums under his belt while participating in Sons Of Apollo, Talisman, Soto, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, WET, just to name a few.
His official albums are pretty easy to find, however the incredible versatile singer has recorded on hundreds of albums as guest, working demos, collaborations, etc, and in different styles & genres.

JEFF SCOTT SOTO – B-Sides [Frontiers Music promo CD only / not for sale]

Few vocalists can have a body of work as large as veteran JEFF SCOTT SOTO, with over 60 albums under his belt while participating in Sons Of Apollo, Talisman, Soto, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, WET, just to name a few.
His official albums are pretty easy to find, however the incredible versatile singer has recorded on hundreds of albums as guest, working demos, collaborations, etc, and in different styles & genres.
Many of you have been requesting Jeff’s rare recordings – and here’s “B-Sides“, the promo-only (not for sale) 2-CD that record label Frontiers Music made in limited quantities two decades ago when signing JSS for the first time.
In fact these songs aren’t B-sides, but collaborations, covers, and good quality demos J S Soto had been recording in the Nineties / early 2000. This is killer stuff all over.

JEFF SCOTT SOTO – Rarities Vol 1 (gift CD given by JSS for the meet & greet fans)

You asked for more JEFF SCOTT SOTO, and 0dayrox delivers… how about this rare CD titled ”Rarities Vol 1” given as gift by Soto – hand signed – to fans at the pre-shows meet & greet.
This is a selection (by Soto himself) of very good quality unreleased songs / demos he recorded during various vocals sessions where he put his voice for various artists.
There’s songs for ex-Megadeth guitar player Jeff Young (very melodic songs), ex- 3rd Stage Alert guitar player Albert Hans Morris, for ex- St. Valentine member Joe Mina, a song done with Tommy Thayer (Black & Blue, Kiss) & Phil Soussan (Ozzy Osbourne, Billy Idol).
All are had rock / melodic classic songs, and there’s as well a couple of ‘grungy’ demos Soto recorded for actor / musician Patrick Muldoon, whom starred the TV Show ‘Melrose Place’ in the mid-90s. Both songs are listed as ‘Melrose Place’ soundtrack 1995′, but never used. Before you ask, no, there’s no Vol 2… until now.
Rare CD

JEFF SCOTT SOTO – LA Rocks Demos & ‘Rich Girl’ Soundtrack

We featured at 0dayrox from the great Japan AOR Moon Collectors series, the “Eyes – LA Rocks” compilation, including, among others, the vocals of JEFF SCOTT SOTO. However, there’s more tracks demo-songs Soto recorded with ‘Eyes / LA Rocks’ at the time – the ’80s.
Here’s the complete Jeff Scott Soto demos (superior sound quality from others floating the net) “LA Rocks Demos & ‘Rich Girl’ Soundtrack” – as some of these songs were remixed and later used for the 1991 movie ”Rich Girl’.
Songs like ‘Love Strikes’, ‘Heart Of The Fire’ or ‘Love Stops The Hands Of Time’ are simply awesome ’80s US Melodic Hard Rock to die for…

EYES (Jeff Scott Soto, James Christian & more) – LA Rocks [Japan AOR Moon Collectors]

Few days ago we featured the 2-CD release of EYES featuring Jeff Scott Soto. Many of your have been asking for more JSS, so here’s from the awesome Japan AOR Moon Collectors series, the “LA Rocks” compilation.
Since the mid-80s, “LA Rocks” was a Californian collective (also known as ‘Eyes’) including several members from renowned hard rock bands, such as Marcel Jacob (Yngwie Malmsteen), Michael Dorian (Lillian Axe), Chuck Wright (Giuffria, House Of Lords, Quiet Riot), Jimmy O’Shea (Cacophony), Jeff Naideau (Life By Night) and many more. Even Mike Porcaro (Toto) collaborated with them.
There were several singers as well, including Jeff Scott Soto but also James Christian, Jim Wilkinson (later famous as Jizzy Pearl) and Malice’s Mark Weitz. Good sound demos from all are included here.
Later Soto took the name ‘Eyes’ for the band of the same name which managed to release official material included into the 2-CD we featured at 0dayrox. On this Japan AOR Moon Collectors disc there’s also a rare live recording from that line-up.
There are demos, but darn awesome.

EYES (Jeff Scott Soto) – 24U [2-CD Set] Out Of Print

Many of you have been requested Jeff Scott Soto material, particularly the band EYES he was involved with. This American hard rock outfit released two stupendous albums at the beginning of the ’90s that simply didn’t get the attention it so rightly deserved the first time around.
This 2-CD set titled “24U” includes EYES’ two official albums plus unreleased / rare tracks, and it’s a must have in your collection.
Originally formed in the mid-Eighties under the band name L.A. Rocks (several demos were taped) in its first attempt featured Kelly Hansen on lead vocals, guitarist Steve Dougherty (ex- Burning Rome, Berlin), bassist Chuck Wright (ex- Giuffria) and drummer Aldy Damian. Hansen took off for the band Hurricane and Chuck Wright to Quiet Riot and House Of Lords.
Enter new bassist Jimmy O’Shea (ex-Cacophony) and powerhouse vocalist Jeff Scott Soto (ex-Yngwie Malmsteen) and a brand new moniker in EYES, circa 1989.
This is a fantastic band quite unknown for many Jeff Scott Soto fans. Production is brilliant, where the backing vocals are huge emulating Def Leppard’s technique of layered harmonies…

JOURNEY – Live In The Neon Babylon (feat. Jeff Scott Soto on lead vocals)

Many of you have been asking for demos, recordings, etc done by JOURNEY while the mighty Jeff Scott Soto was fronting the band. Soto was part of Journey for only few months, only performing live gigs. This concert captured at the Reno Events Center, in Reno, NV, on 3rd September 2006, has been released on CD and while it’s a soundboard recording the sound quality is pretty good. Of course this is a bootleg, and curiously the photo for the cover artwork features vocalist Arnel Pineda, who entered Journey’s ranks later.
Titled “Live In The Neon Babylon“, this is the only, or at least the best sounding testament of Journey featuring the incomparable Jeff Scott Soto on lead vocals. While JSS may have had a short tenure with the band, his contribution to the group will live on through this red hot live live show, where the singer performs all Journey classics…

JEFF SCOTT SOTO – Complicated (2022) HQ

Complicated” is the eighth official studio album from veteran hard rock vocalist JEFF SCOTT SOTO to be released on May 6, 2022. As with his previous studio record of all new material, “Wide Awake (In My Dreamland)”, Soto teamed up with producer and songwriter Alessandro Del Vecchio (Hardline, Revolution Saints, Edge Of Forever) to craft “Complicated”.
Arguably the best JSS album since Damage Control, “Complicated” has a Talisman and even a W.E.T. (Jeff’s band with members of Eclipse and Work Of Art) punch to it, but all feels wholly Jeff Scott Soto at the end of the day…

JEFF SCOTT SOTO – The Duets Collection, Vol. 1 (2021)

Acclaimed vocalist JEFF SCOTT SOTO is ready to release of his next solo project, “The Duets Collection, Vol. 1“, on October 8. For this album, Soto wanted to do a career retrospective and re-record some of his favorite songs from his storied career, but with the twist that he invited friends to join him on duets of said songs.
But rather than simple re-records, he wanted to make the album something special, unique. So, not only did he re-record these songs with his musical friends Jorge Salan & Howie Simon & Leo Mancini (guitars), Tony Dickinson (bass) and Edu Cominato (drums), but he called in some of his fellow rock friends/vocalists to create a unique duets album.
With the likes of Erik MĂĄrtensson (ECLIPSE, W.E.T.), Eric Martin (MR. BIG), Johnny Gioeli (HARDLINE), Deen Castronovo (REVOLUTION SAINTS, JOURNEY), Nathan James (INGLORIOUS), Russell Allen (SYMPHONY X, ALLEN/LANDE), Renan Zonta (ELECTRIC MOB), Dino Jelusick (TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA), Mats LevĂ©n (CANDLEMASS, TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA), BJ (SPEKTRA, SOTO), and Aliro Netto (SHAMAN, QUEEN EXTRAVAGANZA), this is an amazing international affair…
