TALISMAN (Jeff Scott Soto) – Genesis [Deluxe Edition / extra tracks]

Swedish / American melodic hard rockers TALISMAN still remains as one of my favorites in the genre. All the Talisman catalog has just been reissued by a Swedish label with new artwork, newly remastered audio and previously unreleased material.
Their second album “Genesis” is, in my opinion, the band’s best and Jeff Scott Soto finest recording ever. Talisman incorporated the best elements of ’80s AOR and early ’90s commercial Hard Rock and did so at a time when mainstream musical tastes no longer cared much for this kind of music.
Hearing “Genesis” you have to wonder why this band wasn’t huge. Even in the grunge-drenched years a band this good should have broke through to the masses.

TALISMAN (Jeff Scott Soto) – Humanimal [Deluxe Edition remastered / extra tracks]

Some time ago all the TALISMAN catalog has been reissued by a Swedish label with new artwork, newly remastered audio and previously unreleased material. We already presented most of these on this blog but a couple missing, and two that can’t be absent in your Talisman / Jeff Scott Soto collection.
TALISMAN’s third studio album “Humanimal“, for many, their best.
Finding a hole in his busy schedule, in January 1994 Jeff Scott Soto joined the guys in Sweden and recorded & mixed the new album “Humanimal” at Sound Trade Studios in Stockholm, working together with studio and mixing engineer Ronny Lahti (Europe, Electric Boys).

TALISMAN (Jeff Scott Soto) – Life [Deluxe Edition remastered / 6 bonus tracks]

As requested, more TALISMAN albums, here’s “Life / Deluxe Editionremastered.
Talisman was the pride and joy of talented Marcel Jacob (RIP) who always dreamed with his own band after play and record with the likes of Yngwie and John Norum. With the mighty Jeff Scott Soto they formed this great Melodic Hard Rock / AOR outfit keeping the fire burning during the hardest decade for the genre: the Nineties.
All Talisman catalog has being reissued by a Swedish label with new artwork, newly remastered audio and previously unreleased material. Talisman’s 4th studio album “Life” was quite successful in Japan but suffered severe distribution problems in the rest of the world, and remains as one of the least heard from the band.
Including guitarist Fredrik Åkesson (ex- One Cent, Southpaw) and ex- Treat skinsman Jamie Borger, “Life” was written in Jeff Scott Soto’s house over a couple weeks in March 1995. Recorded in Sweden minus the vocal tracks taped down in Los Angeles, “Life” is a ‘real’ Marcel Jacob’s baby.
His monster bass lines & arrangements (sometimes coming out like a guitar) never sounded so rich. Just listen the previously unreleased…

TALISMAN (Jeff Scott Soto) – Truth [Deluxe Edition remastered / extra tracks]

TALISMAN was the pride and joy of talented Marcel Jacob (RIP) who always dreamed with his own band after play and record with the likes of Yngwie and John Norum. With the mighty Jeff Scott Soto they formed this great Melodic Hard Rock / AOR outfit keeping the fire burning during the hardest decade for the genre: the Nineties.
Since last year, the entire Talisman catalog it’s being reissued (many already presented here in this website) by a Swedish label with new artwork, newly remastered audio and previously unreleased material.
Now it’s the time for Talisman’s 5th studio album “Truth“, where the Swedish combo goes for a more commercial sound to reach a wider audience.
The album was not very well received in the press, but that was pure prejudice just because Soto & Jacob decided to include here some atypical cover songs for a Melodic Hard Rock band. Those are; Queen’s classic”Let Me Entertain You”, “Darling Nikki” from Prince’, and “Frozen”, the famous Madonna’s hit…

JEFF SCOTT SOTO – Complicated (2022) HQ

Complicated” is the eighth official studio album from veteran hard rock vocalist JEFF SCOTT SOTO to be released on May 6, 2022. As with his previous studio record of all new material, “Wide Awake (In My Dreamland)”, Soto teamed up with producer and songwriter Alessandro Del Vecchio (Hardline, Revolution Saints, Edge Of Forever) to craft “Complicated”.
Arguably the best JSS album since Damage Control, “Complicated” has a Talisman and even a W.E.T. (Jeff’s band with members of Eclipse and Work Of Art) punch to it, but all feels wholly Jeff Scott Soto at the end of the day…

SOTO [Jeff Scott Soto] – Inside The Vertigo (2015)

* Jeff Scott Soto – one of today’s premier Rock frontmen and vocalists – is back in 2015 with a new solo album. But it isn’t really a solo album, because Jeff has decided to comprise his touring crew into a real ‘band’ under the name SOTO.Simply put, SOTO’s debut CD “Inside The Vertigo” (to be released next January 30th)...

HUMAN CLAY (Jeff Scott Soto) – Closing The Book… (2012)

* While in Talisman, one of the best Swedish Melodic Hard Rock of the nineties, the mighty Jeff Scott Soto and fellow bandmate Marcel Jacob – both prolific songwriters – started a side project to develop their co-penned material outside Talisman. Called HUMAN CLAY, the duo Soto/Jacob released two albums via a small Swedish label; the selftitled ‘Human Clay’ and...

TALISMAN – Time After Time [Deluxe Edition Maxi + bonus]

As informed previously on these pages, Swedish label ‘Production Ab Sweden’ is planning to re-release the catalog of legendary Melodic Rock / AOR band TALISMAN plus bonus material.
First up was the maxi-single ‘I’ll Be Waiting [Deluxe Edition 2012]’ (already presented here, follow tags below).
Now we have “Time After Time [Deluxe Edition 2012]“, featuring the main single +3, including the awesome “Mysterious (This Time It’s Serious)”.
There’s a noticeable improvement in this remaster, full of dynamics and ambiance.
Jeff Scott Soto never sounded better.

TALISMAN – I’ll Be Waiting [Deluxe Edition Maxi +1]

TALISMAN was one of the most representative Melodic Hard Rock acts from Sweden. Brainchild of talented Marcel Jacob (RIP), it was as well the vehicle for powerhouse vocalist Jeff Scott Soto to be definitively accepted all over Europe.
Talisman’s self-titled debut was a collection of wonderful melodic tunes, a hit after hit, but the final production / sound was not the expected by Jacob. His family and Talisman’s former members in conjunction with A Sun Hill Production Ab Sweden are planning to re-issue the band’s entire catalog, remastered and with a slight remix job.
“I’ll Be Waiting [Deluxe Edition 2012]” seems to be the first maxi-single of the bunch, and indeed it sounds fantastic.
There’s a noticeable improvement in the sound, full of dynamics and ambiance.
Melodic rockers; this is a must from a band that, in my opinion, still ranks among the best the genre has given birth.
