“Magnet To Steele“, the 1991’s long out of print only full length album by Canadian vocalist CHRISSY STEELE is simply one of the best Female-fronted Melodic Hard Rock albums from the era. The record was in fact the brainchild of talented Brian ‘Too Loud’ MacLeod (CHILLIWACK, HEADPINS), his last contribution to the Melodic Hard Rock world before sadly succumbed to cancer at the age 39.
CHRISSY STEELE was already a veteran from the Canadian bar scene with her bands Room Service and Reform School when she was asked to join MacLeod’s HEADSPINS in late 1989, following the departure of lead singer DARBY MILLS.
The material featured on “Magnet To Steele” was originally slated to be a Headpins album, but due the growing unrest with their label and MacLeod’s illness, it was decided the album already in the works should be released as Chrissy’s solo debut rather than an actual ‘Headpins’ record.
Despite his medical condition, MacLeod still managed to put his indelible mark on the project, as well as playing all guitars, bass, background vocals and producing the album, as sharing engineering & programming duties with cult AOR artist TIM FEEHAN.
Most of the songs are MacLeod / Tim Feehan co-writes as well, however we find one with LOVERBOY’s MIKE RENO (“Two Lips”), one with master JEFF PARIS (“Armed And Dangerous”), and other with ‘MUTT’ LANGE (“Cry Myself To Sleep”) – so you can expect top class stuff here.
The now rare Japanese pressing includes as bonus track the rocking “Blood From A Stone”…
