DOMAIN (ex Kingdom) – Before The Storm (1989) HQ

With the fresh remastered reissue of ”Lost In The City”, the only album German melodic rockers Kingdom released under this moniker before changing their name to DOMAIN, there’s this album, their second, that you need in your collection: “Before The Storm“.
By 1989, the only line-up change in DOMAIN was the drummer, the rest of the Kingdom / Lost In The City personnel remained intact, and also their brand of classic melodic (hard) rock / AOR.
“Before The Storm” is wonderful collection of melodic keyboard / guitar driven tunes and smooth rockers mixed with AOR gems such as ‘Lost Without Trace’ (incredible midtempo atmospheres), the pompy ‘I Can See The Light’ (bring to mind Giuffria), of the terrific ‘Hearts of Stone’.
An ’80s little gem.

KINGDOM (pre DOMAIN) – Lost In The City ’88 [Digitally Remastered +3] (2021)

Formed from the ashes of Seventies / early Eighties metal progressive Epitaph, German outfit KINGDOM was founded in 1984 with the aim to create a more accessible, commercial rock music. If their name doesn’t ring a bell… they later changed to DOMAIN, releasing some fantastic albums.
KINGDOM debut album “Lost In The City” was released in 1988 by Teldec (East West Germany), a highly melodic AOR / Hard Rock / Melodic Rock mix with a light bluesy foundation. It sounded a bit like Europe, Journey or Whitesnake from the Mk II Phase: diverse, authentic, full of crunchy riffs and solos, enthusiastic keyboard passes and great vocal harmonies. Add to that a touch of US glam / hair metal on a couple of tracks.
After many years out of print, KINGDOM’s ”Lost In The City” is now being reissued, digitally remastered and with the addition of 3 bonus tracks: the killer extended version of title track plus two live songs recorded in 2008 – the band is still active – confirming KINGDOM still rocks with style.
