D’VIRGILIO, MORSE & JENNINGS – Troika (Bonus Track Edition) [2022]

Troika“, combining the immense talents of Nick D’Virgilio (Big Big Train), Neal Morse (Transatlantic) and Ross Jennings (Haken), initially began with Morse writing some acoustic songs he thought would be enhanced by strong vocal harmonies. After reuniting with former Spock’s Beard bandmate Nick D’Virgilio, the duo specifically sought out Jennings to complete the trio (all of whom contributed material to the project).
Recorded during lockdown, D’VIRGILIO, MORSE & JENNINGS delivers melodic acoustic-filled anthems, charged rockers and sensitive ballads – all part of the mix – and the unique blend of the three voices and styles have created an album in which you will encounter these musicians in a way you’ve never heard before.
It’s such a wonderful record that the masses need to hear, and while the super-group last name approach will work fine for prog rock die-hards, it just doesn’t roll off the tongue for the people who will really enjoy this record the most – regular lovers of vocal harmony-rich classic rock…

THE NEAL MORSE BAND – Innocence & Danger (2021)

Innocence & Danger” is the upcoming, fourth album from the NMB / THE NEAL MORSE BAND (Neal Morse, Mike Portnoy, Randy George, Bill Hubauer & Eric Gillette). After two sprawling back to back double concept albums in a row, it is refreshing to hear that ”Innocence & Danger” is a collection of unrelated individual songs in the vein of their first album… And what quality songs…
This band is so extraordinary and such an amazing team that you not only admire the individual performances, but as a whole THE NEAL MORSE BAND is simply outstanding.
We dare to say ”Innocence & Danger” is a classic in the making. Yes. It’s that good.

NEAL MORSE – Sola Gratia (2020)

This is my ‘quarantine’ album” says NEAL MORSE of his new release, “Sola Gratia”, to be released next September 11. That refers to the fact that for the first time in his career, Morse didn’t have cohorts Mike Portnoy and Randy George in the studio with him in-person to record their parts.
Instead, due to the obvious impact of COVID-19, each player recorded their performance in their own studios with Morse’s original songwriting staying largely intact.
But that didn’t affected the final product: “Sola Gratia” strengths lay in its top shelf performances from George, Portnoy and Morse, a healthy dose of quality material, and of course its pristine production thanks once again to Rich Mouser.

MORSE PORTNOY GEORGE – Cover To Cover Anthology [Vol.1&2 Remastered + New Vol.3] (2020)

Neal Morse, Mike Portnoy and Randy George are well known as experts in their field. Some time ago, these masterminds of progressive rock and metal began to record cover versions of legendary songs of which 13 landed on the ‘Cover To Cover’ album, released in 2006. In 2012 the journey continued with ‘Cover 2 Cover’, and now 2020 the third strike follows with ‘Cov3r to Cov3r’.
‘Cov3r To Cov3r’ is a standalone disc, however also this ‘Cover To Cover Anthology (Vol. 1 – 3)’ will be available, collecting all 3 instalments together with the first two albums being newly re-sequenced and remastered, and with brand new artwork, created by Thomas Ewerhard (Sons of Apollo, Avantasia).
