FORTUNE – Level Ground (2022)

Eighties Melodic Rock/AOR cult heroes FORTUNE are back with their third album entitled “Level Ground” via Frontiers Music. After the well-received reception to their 2019 come-back album “II”, which broke a 34 year hiatus from releasing albums, and the 2020 live release “The Gun’s Still Smokin'”, the band’s energy and creativity was ramped up for them to create another melodic rock gem to add to their crown.
After being silent for decades, the first proper Fortune reunion happened in 2016 when the band performed at the Rockingham Music Festival that same year and then – thanks to the acclaim that followed that performance – in 2017 as well. Those appearances ultimately led to discussions with the Frontiers label about a new studio album, which became the highly praised “II” in 2019.
“Level Ground”, the latest entry in the Fortune discography continues the band’s fine tradition of delivering high quality Melodic Rock/AOR…

FORTUNE – The Gun’s Still Smokin’ Live (2020)

To celebrate the release of their then comeback studio album, American melodic rockers FORTUNE traveled to Milan, Italy for the 2019 edition of the Frontiers Rock Festival to play a rare live set. A milestone performance, which happened on April 27, 2019, the set will now be released as a CD/DVD on August 7, 2020, titled ”The Gun’s Still Smokin’ Live”.
Fortune are known for their pristine sound, and while ”The Gun’s Still Smokin’ Live” is live recording, it actually does stand on its own two feet. Yes, like the band’s sound, it’s a bit clinical, but it does capture the polished essence of Fortune: the crisp vocals, the carefully crafted melodies, the intertwined guitar melodies, the combination of lightweight, memorable choruses and dark crunching bottom end that exemplifies well-crafted AOR. An exemplar of this particular genre at its most accurately portrayed.
A unique, and rare, performance, this is a must hear for all AOR fans.
