The Swedish Hard Rock movement goes on and on and on. Just check out these new blasters in Ammotrack, a talented bunch that went up after their appearance at the qualification for the Eurovision song contest with the band performing their new single “Raise Your Hands”. This truly gained a lot of new fans for the band and made them notice worldwide.
So it’s really smart to release a new CD entitled as the single with a selection of songs from their 2 previous albums “Ammotrack” (2008) and “Come Die With Us” (2011)
In their origins called the new Crashdiet, truth is that except a couple of tracks form their debut (“Back On Track” and “S.H.O.U.T”) Ammotrack has added too much more melody and commercialism to their music. And for good results.
Apart from the extremely anthemic, catchy new track “Raise Your Hands”, the music here recalls the first Reckless Love, Hardcore Superstar and Europe. Yes, specially the lead guitarist, which is heavily influenced by Kee Marcello (“Come Die with Me”). I can hear some late ’80s American inspiration on some cuts as well.
“Living Like an Angel” is the winner for me, a killer melodic hard rock tune better than the title track, “Life is Calling” rocks hard, then “A Bigger Bang” is nasty and contagious.
There’s a bit modern intention on “My Sweet Insane” which is Reckless Love meets Skid Row, and “Come Die with Me” is more broken rhythmically thanks to the guitar riff and the explosive chorus. Both tracks provide variation, same as “Let Your Dream Decide”, a ballad with acoustics and a ’90s feel.
It’s time you get acquainted with this great band called Ammotrack because they Rock. And this compilation CD “Raise Your Hands” is the perfect vehicle.
Don’t get fooled if you’ve heard the single / video only, the rest of the material kicks some serious ass via sharp rhythm guitars, gutsy melodic vocals and clean (and really good) solos. The band is hellbent on melody and substance, very well produced with a clang & bang punchy sound.
