HOUSE OF SHAKIRA – Revisitation (2025) *HQ*

HOUSE OF SHAKIRA have always been positioned off center in the melodic rock genre – partly because they’ve always had a soft spot for bands like Eagles and the whole American singer/songwriter tradition. When House Of Shakira first entered the scene of melodic rock back in the early 90s, their compositions stood out thanks to elements of non-western music thrown in here and there.
”Revisitation” implies the band taking on their old songs in a completely new shape – and this time around the songs might sound as they did from the get-go, closer to the downscaled manner in which they were written.

Many years ago bass player Per Schelander suggested the idea to guitarist Mats Hallstensson ”- We should re-record our old songs and re-arrange them with a more intimate approach, since most of our songs are written with just an acoustic guitar and vocals.” So when it was time to write new material after the album ’Radiocarbon’ (2019), we agreed that is was time to realize our vision.”

While acoustically based, House Of Shakira is a rocking band, and there’s a lot of electricity here too, with many uptempo, dynamic takes on these fine songs in the vein of Tesla, Nelson, Jon Bon Jovi, Eagles, etc, when they go (semi) unplugged. ”Revisitation” is very, very good.
Originally planned as a special and limited vinyl-only release, House Of Shakira’s album “Revisitation” will now be available on other formats on February 15, 2025, via Lion Music.
