BELINDA CARLISLE – The Collection (2014)
*
BELINDA CARLISLE? A poppy artist and her fresh greatest hits “The Collection” here?
Oh yes, I don’t know you, but for me Belinda’s solo career after leaving the Go-Go’s in 1984 offers some of the finest and polished Rock&Pop, Adult Contemporary (and even Light AOR) appeared during the ’80s / ’90s, comparable with the great Laura Branigan.
Belinda Carlisle albums were crafted to fit the slick formats of mid-’80s radio, but managed to be more memorable than many of the mainstream hits of the time. And you know what? The beautiful lady can sing.
You have here songs composed by AOR gurus Tom Kelly / Billy Steinberg (who also provide backing vocals) or Diane Warren, and some first class cats playing like the unparalleled Dann Huff, also guitar-crazy Andy Taylor and legendary drummer Kenny Aronoff, just to mention some.
There has been two previous greatest hits from Belinda Carlisle, but this is ‘the real one’ and it’s the first featuring all songs remastered, and the first to include singles from all six of her English speaking studio albums, some of them hard to find remixes and 7” versions.
This is immaculately produced mainstream Rock&pop, plenty of quality.
