C.T.P. – Now & Then (2016)
Highly respected German guitarist Christian Tolle is releasing “Now & Then“, the fourth installment of his C.T.P. (Christian Tolle Project) seeing the musician revisiting some of his best tunes plus new material in the company of some Rock giants leading to a really enjoyable release.
Tolle was part of many celebrated AOR / Melodic Rock records as session musician including Chasing Violets, Reece, AOR, Universe, Tango Down, Cooper Inc., etc, and for his C.T.P. albums he always get collaborating some of the best cats in the business.
There’s stellar vocalists and guest performances from the likes of John Parr, Philip Bardowell, Rick Riso, David Reece, Michael Voss, Steve Lukather, Michael Landau, Tim Pierce, Doug Aldrich, Chuck Wright and many more.
“Now & Then” is classic Melodic Rock, edgy at places and with a strong AOR feel at others, all really well arranged, performed & produced.
Indeed, the album sports a punchy 21st Century sound which brings out the best of songs like “Dumped” (Michael Voss on lead vocals), “Taking A Risk” and “Hard To Find”.
Among my favorites I should mention “The Price Of Love” (performed by David Reece) and the AOR waves of “Back To The Moon” with the great John Parr providing an ’80s touch.
We have as well scorching guitar solos to boot with Steve Lukather, Michael Landau, Tim Pierce and Doug Aldrich sharing leads with Tolle.
Recorded in L.A. with some of the best musicians you can get from the Melodic Rock / AOR field, “Now & Then” is sure to please any fan of the genre.
