DAVID PAICH (feat Steve Lukather) – Forgotten Toys (2022)

Tina Turner. Bryan Adams. Boz Scaggs. Mötley Crüe. Steely Dan. Michael Jackson. Rod Stewart… and countless others. If you’ve listened to music in the last 50 years, including any of the iconic artists above, you were hearing DAVID PAICH. Music is the soundtrack of our lives, and David is one of its architects.
As a six-time Grammy® Award Winner, Paich has contributed to over 2,000 albums, shaping the sound of popular music as a songwriter, performer, producer, arranger, vocalist and primary composer of the seminal band TOTO.
With TOTO, Paich has released 17 albums, sold over 40 million records and garnered over 3 billion streams worldwide. Paich wrote or co-wrote TOTO’s biggest hits, “Hold the Line”, “Rosanna” and “Africa”.
Like most treasured mementos and keepsakes, we hold on to songs forever. We dust them off when we need them, put them back on the shelf, and discover them again months or sometimes years down the line. With his diverse catalogue, he has been kicking around song ideas for a solo album for some time. The COVID lockdown presented Paich the opportunity to revisit those songs, and the result being a collection of tunes that he has carried in his head for years.
For as much as “Forgotten Toys” it may be a “solo” album, Paich couldn’t help but invite a few friends to play. Joined by Toto’s Joseph Williams as co-producer and sometimes co-vocalist, he welcomed everyone from Steve Lukather to Brian Eno, Michael McDonald, Ray Parker Jr., Eagles’ Don Felder, and more…

RINGO STARR All Starr Band – Zoom In (2021)

Former Beatles drummer RINGO STARR recorded “Zoom In“, his quarantine album of new songs co-penned with LA songwriter Diane Warren featuring, among others, Steve Lukather, Nathan East, Sheryl Crow, Lenny Kravitz, Joe Walsh, Dave Grohl and Sir Paul McCartney.
Very few people can generate the goodwill and love that Ringo Starr does globally. Sure, when you’ve been a member of the biggest band ever, you’re bound to have some support, but he just keeps putting out strong material during the five decades since the Fab Four went their separate ways.
He’s always been an icon but his primary focus has always been the music and that…

STEVE LUKATHER – Candyman [Music On CD reissue 2020] *EXCLUSIVE*

Long time out of print, ”Candyman” is STEVE LUKATHER‘s second solo album from 1994, now reissued by Music On CD with a fantastic sound quality. The recording is a collaboration of musicians who were mostly also in Lukather’s bands Los Lobotomys and TOTO, including drummer Simon Phillips and keyboardist David Paich.
Most of the album was co-written between Lukather and THE TUBES’ unique Fee Waybill and / or keyboard player David Garfield. One song is a Jimi Hendrix cover called ‘Freedom’ and is sung with FREE and BAD COMPANY front-man Paul Rodgers.
“Candyman” was out of print for many years – although a limited 5.1 version appeared some time ago – so this is a really welcome Music On CD Records reissue. The sound quality is crystal clear, much more vibrant than the original press.
Awesome stuff.

TAVARES – Supercharged (Digitally Remastered reissue)

TAVARES bros. broke charts during the Seventies with their blend of soul, R&B and later some disco music. But at the end of the decade a new sound was reaching the FM radio: smooth West Coast, and the combo together with their label decided to update things.
The title of this album says all; “Supercharged“, enlisting super-producers David Foster, Bobby Colomby (Pages) and Benjamin Wright (Michael Jackson), plus first class songwriters Gerard McMahon, Bill Champlin and David Foster itself, and the likes of Toto’s Steve Lukather, David Hungate Greg Phillinganes, Jay Graydon, Ed Greene (Jeff Beck), Paul Jackson Jr, etc to play on it.

FEE WAYBILL – Read My Lips [BGO Records Digitally Remastered]

As requested, here’s the only remastered version done by BGO Records of FEE WAYBILL‘s solo debut album “Read My Lips“. It was 1984, and the radio friendly, lite AOR music was the order of the day.
And to launch The Tubes frontman solo career Capitol Records put everithing at his service: the best songwriters you can get, namely Steve Lukather, David Foster, Michael Landau, Humberto Gatica just name a few, the cream of LA Session musicians – the aforementioned plus Jeff Porcaro, JR Robinson, Tom Keane, Richard Marx, Bobby Kimball & more, and a big production from the era, also handled by Foster / Lukather.
Many called this “Read My Lips” as a ‘missing Toto album’, as the overall sound & style here are in the vein of ‘Isolation’ or ‘Fahrenheit’.

FEE WAYBILL – Don’t Be Scared By These Hands (out of print)

Don’t Be Scared By These Hands” is the out of print and rare 2nd solo album from the legendary The Tubes front man FEE WAYBILL, produced by Richard Marx, and partially recorded in Sweden by Tommy Denander. His intention was to present a dimension of his musical work that fans would not be familiar with, and he collaborated with many notable musicians.
Among the people involved in “Lukather” were Eddie Van Halen, Steve Stevens, Richard Marx…
