DAVID PAICH (feat Steve Lukather) – Forgotten Toys (2022)

Tina Turner. Bryan Adams. Boz Scaggs. Mötley Crüe. Steely Dan. Michael Jackson. Rod Stewart… and countless others. If you’ve listened to music in the last 50 years, including any of the iconic artists above, you were hearing DAVID PAICH. Music is the soundtrack of our lives, and David is one of its architects.
As a six-time Grammy® Award Winner, Paich has contributed to over 2,000 albums, shaping the sound of popular music as a songwriter, performer, producer, arranger, vocalist and primary composer of the seminal band TOTO.
With TOTO, Paich has released 17 albums, sold over 40 million records and garnered over 3 billion streams worldwide. Paich wrote or co-wrote TOTO’s biggest hits, “Hold the Line”, “Rosanna” and “Africa”.
Like most treasured mementos and keepsakes, we hold on to songs forever. We dust them off when we need them, put them back on the shelf, and discover them again months or sometimes years down the line. With his diverse catalogue, he has been kicking around song ideas for a solo album for some time. The COVID lockdown presented Paich the opportunity to revisit those songs, and the result being a collection of tunes that he has carried in his head for years.
For as much as “Forgotten Toys” it may be a “solo” album, Paich couldn’t help but invite a few friends to play. Joined by Toto’s Joseph Williams as co-producer and sometimes co-vocalist, he welcomed everyone from Steve Lukather to Brian Eno, Michael McDonald, Ray Parker Jr., Eagles’ Don Felder, and more…

TOTO – Ahoy 1990 2nd Night [AOR Moon Collector’s Japan 2xCD] The Real One

As requested, here’s the Japanese AOR Moon Collector’s bootleg label release of TOTO‘s “Ahoy 1990 2nd Night“, a concert recorded 1990-10-08 in Rotterdam at the Sportpaleis Ahoy during the band’s Toto Planet Earth Tour.
There was two TOTO concerts there, October 7th (first night), and this one, October 8th, the second night. It’s a very good sound recording of special interest as features Jean-Michel Byron as lead vocalist, the only major, world tour the singer was part of TOTO.
There’s a less quality version of this concert floating the internet with cuts and noises – this is the real AOR Moon Collector’s 2xCD release – Only at 0dayrox

FANFIELDS 1 – A Fans’ Tribute To Toto

As requested, here’s the very first FANFIELDS 1 A Fans’ Tribute To Toto. In 1997 a number of people of the Toto mailing list on the Internet decided to record Toto songs as a tribute to the band. Led by Michael Riesenbeck (from melodic rockers China Blue) quickly this became a serious project with musicians contributing from all over the world.
In 2001 ‘Fanfields 1’ was released as a ‘Fans’ Tribute to Toto’. The album was praised for its honest feel and great musicianship, sanctified by Steve Lukather and all Toto members.
Many musicians from all over the world contributed, like for instance Lars Säfsund and Robert Säll of Work Of Art, Phil Vincent, Ed James, Eric Ragno (Takara, Ted Poley), etc.
There’s great versions of Toto classic such as ‘Child’s Anthem’, ‘Home Of The Brave’, ‘I’ll Supply The Love’ and more…

FANFIELDS 3 – A Fans’ Tribute To TOTO (2021) *0dayrox Exclusive*

In May 1997 a number of people of the Toto mailing list on the Internet decided to record Toto songs as a tribute to the band. Led by Michael Riesenbeck (from melodic rockers China Blue) quickly this became a serious project with musicians contributing from all over the world. In 2001 ‘Fanfields 1’ was released as a ‘Fans’ Tribute to Toto‘. The album was praised for its honest feel and great musicianship. ‘Fanfields 2’ was released October 2016, again featuring over 50 guests.
The musicians collaborating on Fanfields 1 & 2 enjoyed themselves so much that the idea arose in 2019 to record ”Fanfields 3”. After the project took off Covid happened, so quite some delays occurred. But in Winter of 2020 the recordings were finished and FANFIELDS 3 see the light this 2021.
We have here some awesome renditions of TOTO songs done with an impeccable pristine production sound and musicianship including Thomas Vikström (Talk of the Town), Nalle Påhlsson (Treat), Herman Furin (Work Of Art), John Cuijpers (Christian Tolle Project), Lenny Castro, Vince DiCola, Janne Stark (Grand Design) and many more.

TOTO – With A Little Help From My Friends (2021)

TOTO and The Players Club / Mascot Label Group have announced the global release of ”With A Little Help From My Friends” on June 25. The performance captures one special night on November 21, 2020 when Steve Lukather, Joseph Williams and David Paich appeared with the new line-up of TOTO for a global event originating from Los Angeles, CA.
Joining Lukather, Williams and Paich for this next chapter in their indelible history are new band members bassist John Pierce (Huey Lewis and The News), drummer Robert “Sput” Searight (Ghost-Note / Snarky Puppy), and keyboardist/background vocalist Steve Maggiora (Robert Jon & The Wreck). This marks the fifteenth incarnation of the TOTO line-up in consideration of band members or sidemen who joined or exited.
The set-list is a broader mix from the TOTO catalog that includes deep cuts and the hits, all played to perfection by the new incarnation of the band…

JOSEPH WILLIAMS – Denizen Tenant (2021)

Frontman of Toto since the ’80s, JOSEPH WILLIAMS new solo album ”Denizen Tenant” can’t deny a real ‘Toto-feel’ all over it, featuring fellow band members David Paich & Steve Lukather and a cast of all-star musicians like Simon Phillips, Nathan East, Michael Landau, Jeff Babko, Lenny Castro, Leland Sklar, etc – most of whom enjoyed tenures in Toto – are also featured players on the album.
Williams and Lukather are releasing their new solo albums the same day. Lukather opted for a played-live sounding diverse record that prioritized spontaneity and expediency. Williams, on the other hand, has opted on “Denizen Tenant” for a more meticulously produced and assembled recording.
Toto records have typically walked the lines between rock and pop, and whereas Lukather’s solo record reveals the rock throttle, Williams’ demonstrates a more sedated side. What some might write off as easy listening, another would call a polished, accessible experience steeped in the West Coast AOR tradition with some modern recording touches.

STEVE LUKATHER – I Found The Sun Again (2021)

Over the course of five decades STEVE LUKATHER has placed an indelible stamp on rock&pop culture. Alongside his tenure as the only member of Toto to never take a hiatus from the band, he has performed on thousands of albums as a session musician. He continues to be Toto’s band leader, a member of Ringo’s All-Starr Band, and a solo artist performing with multiple ensembles.
His 2021 album ‘I Found the Sun Again‘ features five new original compositions and three covers; Traffic’s ‘Low Spark of High Heeled Boys’, Joe Walsh’s ‘Welcome to the Club’, and Robin Trower’s ‘Bridge of Sighs’, all with a new, fresh and the unmistakable ‘Lukather sound’. Starr and Joseph Williams guests on the original ‘Run To Me’.
Superb

STEVE LUKATHER – Candyman [Music On CD reissue 2020] *EXCLUSIVE*

Long time out of print, ”Candyman” is STEVE LUKATHER‘s second solo album from 1994, now reissued by Music On CD with a fantastic sound quality. The recording is a collaboration of musicians who were mostly also in Lukather’s bands Los Lobotomys and TOTO, including drummer Simon Phillips and keyboardist David Paich.
Most of the album was co-written between Lukather and THE TUBES’ unique Fee Waybill and / or keyboard player David Garfield. One song is a Jimi Hendrix cover called ‘Freedom’ and is sung with FREE and BAD COMPANY front-man Paul Rodgers.
“Candyman” was out of print for many years – although a limited 5.1 version appeared some time ago – so this is a really welcome Music On CD Records reissue. The sound quality is crystal clear, much more vibrant than the original press.
Awesome stuff.

STEVE LUKATHER – Lukather [Music On CD ‎reissue] (2019) *EXCLUSIVE*

Bringing to life ‘Classic Albums Available Again on CD’ as read on the sticker, specialized Dutch label Music On CD has been doing a great job reissuing long out of print CD’s. Such is the case with Toto’s guitarist STEVE LUKATHER and his debut solo record “Lukather“.
“Lukather” came about after Toto had been recording and playing for eleven years and the band consensus was to take a break. Since the guitarist had a number of songs written that did not appear on Toto albums, he decided to pursue a solo album.
His intention was to present a dimension of his musical work that fans would not be familiar with, and he collaborated with many notable musicians.
Among the people involved in “Lukather” were Eddie Van Halen, Steve Stevens, Richard Marx…

213 – Three Little Words [recorded 1981, unreleased feat Jeff Porcaro] (2019) *EXCLUSIVE*

Preservation Records presents this extremely special project; soulful Westcoast jewel shelved for almost 40 years. The songs appeared to have been recorded in 1981 and were originally intended for a release on Warner Brothers Records. The band was a supergroup called “213” and consisted of session powerhouses such as Jeff Porcaro from Toto, Bill Meyers, Guy Thomas, Neil Stubenhaus, Carlos Rios, Vinnie Colaiuta, Mike Fisher, and Dave Boruff. Finally this album has a well-deserved release under the title “Three Little Words”.
Finding unreleased gems like this, shelved for decades, is just really rewarding. Especially when the production was a big budget thing.
Limited to 500 copies.
