DOKKEN – Return To The East Live (2018)

The reunited classic line-up of DOKKEN – guitarist George Lynch, vocalist Don Dokken, bassist Jeff Pilson and drummer “Wild” Mick Brown – will release a new CD, DVD and Blu-ray, “Return To The East Live (2016)“, on April 20 via Frontiers Music. The set will contain the band’s October 2016 performance at Japan’s Loud Park festival, as well as a brand new studio track, titled “It’s Just Another Day”.

“It’s Just Another Day” – their first new material together in more than 20 years – is a great rocking song in the real Dokken ’80s tradition. Don’s vocals are better, stronger than I expected, and of course Lynch & the guys are flawless.
Speaking about the concert, it’s really, really good.

This live album brings back the good vibes from thirty years ago with a Don Dokken sounding much better than what fans partly got hear over the last years – even though the old days are gone.
All the great songs are here: ‘Unchain the Night’, ‘Breaking the Chains’, ‘Into the Fire’, ‘Dream Warriors’, ‘In My Dreams’, and of course ‘Alone Again’, some with slightly new arrangements but overall true to originals plus some fire.

‘Heaven Sent’ and ‘Will the Sun Rise’ complete the release, both being done in an acoustic version into the studio. The latter is especially good, with Lynch adding his usual unique electric guitar licks.
“Return To The East Live (2016)” is a really good album, showing why these musicians where – and still are – among the best in melodic hard rock history.
