PUSHKING COMMUNITY – Flame Of The Rising Soul (2018)

Celebrating their 25th anniversary, Russian cult classic rock band Pushking now re-named as PUSHKING COMMUNITY are releasing their new album “Flame Of The Rising Soul”, their 18th release.
We already featured on the blog their previous albums, the band’s ‘international’ presentation including guest stars such as Paul Stanley, Graham Bonnet, Glenn Hughes, Jeff Scott Soto, Joe Lynn Turner, Nuno Bettencourt and many more.
“Flame Of The Rising Soul” features some guest too in the form of Keri Kelli (Night Ranger, Alice Cooper) and Alex De Rosso (Dokken) providing some hot guitar solos, but mostly this new album is made by the band, which has greatly evolved as unit.

We have here another solid slice of classic (hard) rock driven by strong riffs, a thumping rhythm section, nice vintage Hammond B3 and the raspy but smooth vocals of founder Konstantin “Koha” Shustarev.
Since several years into the line-up there’s female vocalist Berta Bertrudova, in this new album singing almost all leads alongside Koha, complementing very well each other creating great harmonies.

All musicians involved are really good, and while there’s excellent solos provided by Kelli / Alex De Rosso, what really shines here is the Pushking Community as band.
The group has perfected the vibe together, sounding tight as never before. Additionally, on this album there’s really polished arrangements, really clever and interesting.

“Flame Of The Rising Soul” should be the most varied Pushking Community I heard.
There’s still a bunch of traditional hard rockers like ‘I’m Bad’, ‘Gambler’ or ‘Story about Johnny’, but also bluesy classic rockers in ‘More than Nothing’, soulful midtempos (‘Ramble On’), acoustic ‘Americanized’ numbers (‘Fly away’), and ever some modern touches on the haunting ‘Angel’.

To give you an idea of how much varied this album is, check out the video-songs of ‘Angel’ and ‘Gambler’ above… Pushking Community are very, very good.
Every song in “Flame Of The Rising Soul” is different, and has something special. Production is second to none, and overall this is a truly refeshing album, really well done in all aspects.
