MONKEY HOUSE – True Winter (Canadian release)
As requested, here’s “True Winter”, the out of print second album from MONKEY HOUSE, the Canadian combo founded by respected L.A. based musician Don Breithaupt, who writes, sings, produces, arranges, and play keyboards.
Emmy, SOCAN, and American Songwriting Award winner, all over the years Breithaupt has co-written songs performed by Marc Jordan, Alfie Zappacosta, Jay Graydon and more.
As you may suspect there’s a definite West Coast AOR sound here; Breithaupt literally wrote a book on Steely Dan and has said “I’ve been a Steely Dan freak since I was 12 years old. That stuff is my religion.”
You can hear also some Eagles, Jay Graydon, Peter Friestedt, etc still, the music on “True Winter” is hardly derivative – what we’ve got here is a smooth, highly melodic music played by real musicians.
