SHAKEDOWN SUZIES – A Business Doin’ Pleasure (2020)

Swedish rockers SHAKEDOWN SUZIES consisting of lead vocalist Erik ”Ricki Rascal” Gripestam, guitarist Jonathan Mortensen, bassist Agust Ahlberg and drummer Claes ”Mads” Mattsson are set to release their new studio album “A Business Doin’ Pleasure” tomorrow.
Taking influences from late Eighties US glam, early Nineties hard rock and all put into a modern production, the 11 tracks here kick ass with catchiness and sleazy punch.

The band formed way back in 2009 in Jönköping, Sweden. They hit the mark in their home country performing as opening act for bands like Sister Sin, Bai Bang and the Babylon Bombs. Shakedown Suzies is still an unsigned band – although nowadays this may not be that important.

Each member declare diverse influences; guitarist Jonathan loves classic hard rock, bass player Agust Ahlberg favourite band is Lynyrd Skynyrd, drummer Claes ”Mads” Mattsson is a heavy metal kinda’ guy, and singer Erik ”Ricki Rascal” Gripestam is into the whole heavy sleazy / street things – they put it all into the ‘Suzie mix’.

With time Shakedown Suzies has evolved from a sleazy rock band to a more straight 80s heavy rock n’ roll act, however you can hear both styles all over on songs like ‘Delicious Vice’, ‘Hair of the Dog’ or ‘I Don’t Do Regrets’ and the catchy ‘Alibi’.

‘A Business Doin’ Pleasure’ rocks with attitude, dirty n’ heavy but recorded and produced with clear sound and fine mix. There’s some kind of rebellion that makes these guys music appealing, a band to keep an eye on.
