ROSEMARY BUTLER – You Just Watch Me (2013) out of print
As requested, here’s the other solo album by recording artist ROSEMARY BUTLER released not so long ago but out of print now. All of the fascinating elements of Rosemary’s Rock & Roll filled life condense into the listening experience on her latest studio production, “You Just Watch Me“.
The album is jam-packed with ten songs that explore and present her classic sound with the help of her long-time friends Kenny Loggins, Leland Sklar, Russell Kunkel, and more talented musicians. “You Just Watch Me” will take you on a timeless classic rock tour with each song and every listen. The further that Rosemary dives into her solo career, the more fans are taking notice of this vocal powerhouse.
The blue-eyed mistress of Rock & Roll has always been a musical individual to watch out for. She was taught how to sing, play piano and read music as a young child and took every musical opportunity that was thrown her way. Rosemary would often sneak off into the local Fender Guitar plant near her childhood home and learn all about guitars and how to play them.
This knowledge allowed her to form her first band, “The Ladybirds” in high school that ended up opening for The Rolling Stones. Her second all-female band, Birtha, was also met with critical acclaim and came out with two hit albums on ABC-Dunhill Records and opened for acts such as Fleetwood Mac, The Who, and BB King.
Her life as a vocalist has taken her all over the world, from the U.S. and Canada, to Europe, Australia, South America, Russia and the Middle East. Rosemary has along lent her teaching abilities to UCLA as well as being a sought after vocal coach for artist such as Bette Midler, Hilary Duff, Rick Springfield, and more.
”You Just Watch Me” combines the creative efforts of Rosemary Butler and a group of talented A-List artists with the help of a seasoned first-rate backing band. All of their contributions combine to take the listener on a veritable road trip of moving ballads, rockin’ blues tunes, and a little funk to boot.
The album starts with a driving drum beat and bluesy guitar on the album’s title track “You Just Watch Me” with Rosemary’s vocals gracing the track with a “You-can’t-stop-this-woman” attitude.
The single “That’s When I Find You” is a downright delightful duet that finds Rosemary accompanied by the legendary Kenny Loggins. The track starts with a funky organ and drum duet that soon has the rest of the band and Kenny jumping in resulting in the sounds of a full choir. Rosemary then contributes her own powerful vocal solo on the next verse. The two talented voices bounce, blend and play with each other on the rest of the track.
Another stand out track, “Travel My Love” features Jackson Browne on backing vocals. Rosemary Butler also puts her own twist on the Tina Turner classic “What’s Love Got To Do With It” turning it into more of a vulnerable ballad.
”You Just Watch Me” was produced by Rosemary, alongside Michael Stern and Kevin Wachs. They don’t make albums like this anymore… Highly recommended.
