DEVOID – Lonely Eye Movement (2021)
October 15, 2021 sees the release of “Lonely Eye Movement“, the second album from DEVOID via Frontiers Music. The new songs written by guitarist Shad Mae and powerhouse vocalist Carsten ‘Lizard’ Schulz are a pretty awesome mix between heaviness and AOR, very catchy and timeless.
Combining technical finesse and elegant arrangements with extremely memorable choruses and hooks, Alongside founder Shad Mae, Devoid is rounded out by powerhouse German vocalist Carsten ‘Lizard’ Schulz (Evidence One, Book of Reflections), guitarist Gwen Kerjan, keyboardist Jorris Guilbaud, bassist Geoffrey Shob Neau, and drummer Benjamin Lesous.
The band came to the attention of the label when they submitted their music via the ‘Frontiers & Beyond’ website and instantly caught the staff’s ears with their hooky, melodic style.
There’s two songs which perfectly summarizes the band’s heavier side (“Man Without Fear”), and the more melodic (“Destination Heaven”), making it clear Devoid is comprised of stupendous musicians able to explore different atmospheres, all with ease.
“Waiting For The Storm” starts off as a soft ballad close to AOR, but in the chorus shows its teeth with power. A fine proof that both styles can be combined to get a bouncy tune.
‘Lonely Eye Movement’ is a huge leap forward for Devoid and the perfect vehicle with which to introduce them to a larger international audience. Coming four years after their debut ‘Cup of Tears’, the band has developed the melodic, slightly progressive sound of that album and it makes for a new record that is perfect for fans of hard hitting yet extremely melodic music.
