SHOOTING STAR – III Wishes [digitally remastered] HQ
As requested here’s another LP from Kansas City based SHOOTING STAR, their third effort 1982’s “III Wishes” in its reissued / remastered CD release.
One of the most respected acts from the American scene since the very early ’80s, Shooting Star enjoyed a considerable success during that decade delivering a bunch of great albums. Starting with a pomp/AOR sound which developed into a melodic rock / radio friendly AOR, Shooting Star always created quality material.
It was 1982, and the sound production of ”III Wishes” has the same vibrancy of Survivor, Foreigner, Journey at the time; bright, melodic, polished tunes. Yeah, Kevin Elson is behind the desk, so if you love that classy first half of the ’80s AOR sound then ”III Wishes” is a must have in your collection.
Recorded at the storied Colorado studio Caribou Ranch, ”III Wishes” captures this killer Kansas City sextet in a holding pattern, where the tenor vocal of Gary West transmogrifies into Steve Perry’s soaring croon. Even the usual expert musicianship resembles a certain Bay-Area phenomenon.
Shooting Star deserves a piece of the AOR profit as much as any act from the era, they had the musicianship and enormous talent for writing good songs.
