It was 1982, and the sound production of ”III Wishes” has the same vibrancy of Survivor, Foreigner, Journey at the time; bright, melodic, polished tunes. Yeah, Kevin Elson is behind the desk, so if you love that classy first half of the ’80s AOR sound then ”III Wishes” is a must have in your collection…

One of the most respected acts from the American scene since the very early ’80s, Shooting Star enjoyed a considerable success during that decade delivering a bunch of great albums. Starting with a pomp/AOR sound which developed into a melodic hard rock vein in the ’90s, Shooting Star always created quality material.
For many the band’s finest moment, ”Hang On For Your Life” packs the magic from their debut plus a commercial approach. American AOR radio stations embraced the record; the songs ‘Hang On for Your Life’, ‘Hollywood’, ‘Breakout’, and ‘Are You on My Side’ along with ‘Flesh and Blood’, all received airplay.
And for a good reason, all these songs rock out and have catchy hooks…

As requested, here’s the fifth album from Kansas City based SHOOTING STAR, 1985’s “Silent Scream” reissued / remastered including bonus tracks. One of the most respected acts from the American scene since the very early ’80s, Shooting Star enjoyed a considerable success during that decade delivering a bunch of great albums. Starting with a pomp sound with this album SHOOTING STAR embraced in full the 1984-1985 AOR sound we all love.
Still retaining the band’s trademark lite proggy touches, “Silent Scream” is pure mid-Eighties keyboard driven paradise, some kind of a mix between Journey, Styx and Alan Parsons Project. Excellent arrangements, top class vocals, intelligent lyrics, and foot-tapping catchy melodies are the order of the day here, and songs like ‘Summer Suns’, ‘Heat of the Night’ and ‘When You’re Young’ are to die for.
None ’80s AOR / Melodic Rock collection is complete without SHOOTING STAR’s “Silent Scream”. Even the cover art is Eighties perfection.
A MUST HAVE, period.

Starting with a pomp/AOR sound which developed into a melodic hard rock vein in the ’90s, Shooting Star always created quality material.
Formed in the second half of the Seventies and after working the scene, Shooting Star was the first American band signed by Virgin Records and recorded their first album in 1979 (released in 1980) and embarked on a national tour opening for Robin Trower.
Produced by Gus Dudgeon (Elton John, David Bowie), “Shooting Star” is a wonderful slice of US pomp AOR / melodic rock with light progressive touches in the style of ’80s, Kansas, Morningstar, Powerglide, Spy, etc.

Cult rockers SHOOTING STAR enjoyed a considerable success during the ’80s with a bunch of great albums. Starting with a pomp/AOR sound which developed into a melodic hard rock vein in the ’90s, Shooting Star always delivered quality material.
After an almost a 10-year hiatus, this cult band from Kansas City recruited a new young singer in Todd Pettygrove, and recorded the comeback album “Into The Night“. This digipak physical edition was a limited CD pressing only sold at shows, now out of print.
