ROAD – Running Away ’85 [Norske Albumklassikere 80-tallet] (2023) *HQ*

As part of the ‘Norske Albumklassikere 80-tallet’ series from the excellent Norwegian reissue label Norske Albumklassikere – which seems to have access to almost every Norwegian release from the 70s and 80s – comes the reissue of ROAD, a hard rock band from Oslo established in the early ’80s.
Originally only released on vinyl 12”, ROAD’s 1985’s EP ”Running Away” became a collector’s item from AOR / melodic hard rock aficionados all over the world because the band adopted here the American sound & style for the genre. Road’s songs resemble here the likes of Hurricane, with classic hare rock melodies, clean guitar riffs, layered vocals and commercial choruses.

ROAD was very popular and traveled around Norway having a huge number of gigs during the years they were active. Their debut album ‘This Is Just Rock ‘n’ Roll’ came in 1983, mostly with songs in Norwegian language, but for ”Running Away” the group full embraced the American Melodic Rock sound from 1983-1984 and recorded these songs with a strong AOR feeling.

A collectors piece now finally available again, for the first time digitalized and on physical CD.
