TOM PETTY – Full Moon Fever [HDtracks Remastered] *HQ*
HDtracks.com is a company that has been out there for a while, offrering to audiophile / high-fidelity sound fanatics the chance to get their favorite albums in digital format taken from the Original Master Tapes. It’s digital, but in its highest quality possible. Well, they have an extensive catalog, as said, all taken from the original tapes in arrangement with the recording companies. Hence, original masters.
But now HDtracks started transfers from fresh remasters recently done, directly taken from the tape-to-digital remaster console.
It is the case with most TOM PETTY & The Heartbreakers discography, and many of you , people asked for the 5X platinum seller “Full Moon Fever“.
“Full Moon Fever” is considered the first solo album by Tom Petty, though it features contributions from members of his backing band the Heartbreakers, notably talented Mike Campbell, along with Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison, and George Harrison of the Traveling Wilburys.
Who does not love “Full Moon Fever”?
It sounds so melodic and breezy, and most of its tracks were airplay titans from 1989-1991, and remains a staple of Classic Rock radio to this day.
You have the perfect Californian rock&pop of “Free Falling” and the bluesy “I Won’t Back Down,” which has become something of an anthem for anyone who believes in their cause. One of Petty’s most catchy rockers ever with one of the world’s best choruses, filled to the brim with a classic Petty & Lynne Sound.
“Love Is a Long Road” was another cut that garnered significant airplay, with it’s stuttering keyboard and guitar interplay, and “Face in the Crowd”, a personal favorite, a dreamlike tull plenty of magic.
But the ‘famous’ songs are complemented by more great tracks on this long-play master work. There’s the witty and sprightly “Yer So Bad,” and the rocky “Apartment Song,”, and the folk-rock “Feel a Whole Lot Better” which outflies the Byrds’ original.
“Alright for Now” is a gorgeous, spare lullabye, while “A Mind With a Heart of Its Own” rocks and rolls and tumbles with a fun jump. Petty ends the disc with the fun “Zombie Zoo” a totally hilarious song,.
In short, what’s not to like?
This is Remastered 2015 in 96kHz/24bit high definition source HDtracks, and believe me, even converted to regular 44.1kHz compressed files (to listen on your iPod or car) the sound acquires another dimension.
HDtracks files put you in the recording studio with the artists. You will hear exactly what the artists and engineer hear in the studio.
“Full Moon Fever” remastering was done in the fall of 2014 by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering, supervised and approved by Petty. Exclusively on HDtracks, images of the master tapes are included with every download.
